Hi
Racing is planned for this Sunday the 4th March.
Tyres I would say are Holeshots/ Double D's if we get a bit of rain. Bar codes/ bar type tyre it usually is if it remains dry and we can get the traction up. But rain makes all the difference.

What are the tyres of choice that work well at St Ives?
Tyres
Hi,
As suggested to another enquiry tonight on Messenger.
Bring some holeshots and some bar tyres (your favourites) and then if you run stock you should be ok with a few pairs of each (if you can be bothered to change them out each run or 3).
But tyre wear shouldn't be too harsh in stock unless super grippy. In the slippery/ damp you probably get by one 1-2 pair max all day.
Dry, then prob higher wear.
If in mod then I suspect you might have much higher tyre wear in the dry. It just depends on how well we can control the dust that the track gives off. But molasses should help 100%.
The track is so dependent on the weather in lead up.
Tyre choice will go some what with what I said when asked re laydown or stand up transmission.
If dry and we can get molasses down then it will prob be lay down. If it rains in days prior then prob need stand up. The molasses gets washed away.
Last year we had rain just prior to race day so in stock we had 2 x RC10 re-release Worlds cars at the top the 1st two rounds of qualifying. As it dried you could get the mid motor cars with stand up to work but then it was pretty much neck and neck into the arvo between the rear motor and the mid motor cars.
But that was very low grip due to the rain just prior to the event.
And something like holeshots were essential initially.
If we get a good dry stretch and we can get molasses down then the grip could be at the other end of the scale.
If only one chassis then I would suggest stand up transmission unless can be sure it remains dry.
Sorry I can't be more definite.

Is there an update on how the track is coming along.
Are you still planning on putting molasses on the surface and will the track be open on Easter Monday for practice?

St ives TRack & Easter
St Ives track will be open for practise this Easter weekend. No meeting planned but Sat from late morning e.g. 11am we hope to have some club committee members there for few hours.
We have some jumps to be installed which are not in place during non race days. This is because we have council restrictions on us adding soil to the site so am trying some wooden jumps to add features. But want them to last so will not be leaving them insitu on non race days.
Track team has worked very hard these past 2 weeks to make the surface a vast improvement on recent. It has been smoothed and molasses applied. Sat it should be prime if you want to get a bit of practise in.
