Which Brushless System?
 

I myself am toying with the idea of running a brushless system in my truck.

I would like you opinions of which brushless to get and why.

My opintions for my truck are:
-LRP Sphere competition, 3 star
-Novak gtb 6.5

Remember its going in a truck and i want your opinions on which to get, due to the fact that alot of people have had bad issues with different brushless systems( e.g. smoking and have to send them back)

Ive got a 3 star setup in an RTR XXXT and.... it's a lot of motor for a 2WD truck. Get the setup right and with a bit of grip tho and it absolutely flies. The tracks i run on are pretty short so its geared down fairly soft, but allows you to utilise the ridiculous RPMs these motors will provide.

Havent had any dramas with the system yet (touchwood). Gave it probably 15 consecutive packs on friday arvo/evening without skipping a beat.

I imagine you'll hear good and bad opinions on the quality of these two systems and the support provided by retailers/manufacturers... all im saying is that ive had no problems with mine over the past couple of months. And it's quick!

Dude, if your going to race seriously, then stick to those kisbey Brushed mod motors, as it says in your signature

Why not run brushless if your going to race seriously. The top two drivers at the sorex winter champs were running brushless.

its in offroad where there need to be a little bit of a throttle curve not just a switch. How come if you think they are so good, they were hardly used at the onroad worlds??

They were hardly used because they are new and SOME people are afraid of new things.

So offroad requires finesse and a throttle curve, and brushless can't deliver? I'm sure I read somewhere that the 2006 National Championship in offroad was won with a brushless motor.....

Brushes or brushless, either way you can have competitive power and smooth delivery. Choose according to your preference.

There are plenty of people running both Novak and LRP systems and who are delighted with them. I've been running a novak gtb system since march and it's been trouble free and maintenance free.

Look at the sponsors names at the worlds, 7-8 of the A final used Orion based motors, Orion dont have a competitive BL system, there were 2 BL's in the final, Novak and LURP both with a driver.

There were plenty of BL powered vehicles down the grid.

With all the fast names attached to a motor manufacturer or speedie manufacturer its hardly a surprise they didnt run either Novak or LURP BL's

only 4wd was won with brushless...brushed for the 2wd classes.

no i believe they dont. I also believe they do not have the bottom end torque that a brushed motor has, and then they come on to hard in the top end.

im not saying this is what is, just my opinion, and a lot of the people i race against.

what you should do is back to back testing to see just how different they are.... you will be suprised, even faster maybe....

No Bottom End Torque???? Have you even seen a buggy running a brushless system? I saw two B4's running around a track in QLD on Saturday WHEELSTANDING out of corners. I am buying two systems because of it.

while I race tourers now, I have done a little offroad racing from time to time. I think I understand well enough.

"little" equals 20years give or take.

a brushless motor is suppost to last for longer than brushed motors but i am still not convinced this is true does any one know any thing about rebuilding brushless. for the price diference you can buy a lot of brushes.
any motor i think needs the gearing right thats mostly the difference.
