18th scale brushless setup

i got the quark pro car 33a from www.dreamtec-rc.com for my mini t today. performance is unbelievable. much better than the mamba. no cogging whatsoever and this thing runs heaps cool as well.

The speedy looks a bit different to my mamba

A_Stevens 04-25-2006 03:43 AM

What motor you running off it, and can someone define "Cogging" for me?
Cheers

rc12l3 04-25-2006 06:05 AM

i got the hacker e30 motor they got on their website. im running 3s lipo. cogging is when the car jumps forward and back during very slow takeoff. this has the most balistic performance. i still cant believe it.

rc12l3 04-25-2006 06:08 AM

ive had the mamba and managed to cook it. i plugged the batteries in the wrong way around.

i decided to try this cause it was cheaper, and infact its better than the mamba. heaps of programming features as well.

The Mamba is great if you get the computer cable, updating the software removes the nasty cogging issues, and you can play with the settings. My M18 is a rocket with a 5400 KV off 6 cells and EXTREMELY conservative gearing. Should be running a 20/36 set am doing 14/36 now and it just scares people :)

rc12l3 04-25-2006 07:11 AM

im not saying the mamba isn't great, in fact the mamba was awsome for me. but this just feels better on the controls. it feels like you got the control of brushed, with the power of brushless. this new one looks and feels better. and it can handle up to 15 cells. :flaming: lol. not that im ever gonna go that far.

BatmanZ 04-25-2006 10:22 PM

Yeh if you get the cable to link it to the computer and update the firmware on the mamba esc it's really good. My 8000 running a 3 cell had no cogging and it was the fastest thing in the world.

thachowman 04-26-2006 07:58 PM

and it can handle up to 15 cells

Holy crap 15 cells you gotta try that surely they will all fit on a mini T chassis :ha: :ha: :ha:

rc12l3 04-27-2006 04:18 AM

lol, what i meant is that its designed to handle more power. i doesnt mean im gonna put 15 cells in my mini t. all im saying is that, ive owned a mamba, and i own a quark, and the quark shlts all over it. in every way. and its not covered in heatshrink. cough .. cheap .. cough .. cough..

nexxus 04-27-2006 08:07 AM

A lot of it is the motor too, the Hacker E30 is 4750KV so I'd wager my 5400KV set up with a Mamba ESC in my M18 would walk all over the quark. Mamba's proven technology, nuff said.

rc12l3 04-27-2006 08:52 AM

the motors u get with the mamba kit are just cheap chinese imports distributed from the USA at blown up prices. Hacker motors, however, make the best brushless motors in the world (then again, their german). u would know this if you fly rc planes and helicopters. i can guarantee that the hacker motor runs more efficiently than ur 5400kv, and easily puts out more torque. the speed can be compensated for in the gearing. if ur going to run a 3s lipo setup, ur going to start to get heating issues with a high kv setup, and the motor is going to struggle on the amp draw. the hacke e30 was designed for 3s lipo use. my mamba heated up hardcore on 3s and that was with a 5000kv motor. what u have to understand is that, a motor with 5400kv 70% eff, is equivalent to a motor that is 4200kv with 90% efficiency. that is because u get more voltage drop across the motor with decreased efficiency. u wont admire the hacker setup unless u own one. this is just my 0.02c.

visit the hacker website. http://www.hackerbrushless.com/motors_e30.shtml
u might learn more about their motors.
