New to RC - Curious about Mini Class Racing.
Hi Guys,
Well being new to RC I'm starting to look at possibly joining a club and racing. Today I bought the latest edition of "Racing Lines" magazine and they had a fantastic write up on Mini Racing (Tamiya M-Chassis Range)
Doe's anyone know of any clubs that support Mini racing in NSW, and would anyone suggest a good electric Mini to start with.
The reason Im starting out in this range is because it's more a "fun" competetion and it would give me the chance to learn a few things before taking or something bigger.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Cheers,
JoshB.

Castle hill raceway is starting a Mini series along the same rules as the guys from melbourne, come down of a friday night at castlehillshowground. They race every friday night. It is a great environment for promoting friendly close racing. And mini racing is probably one of the cheapest forms around, all you would really need is the car, a speedie, and a couple of cheap stick packs

the imcc also has a strong mini field, our rules exclude the tamiya black motors - kit motors only (bearings being the only accecpted mod, although we are pretty relaxed)
we always run a 10min final for the minis, they do this on their ear with a 1400 battery and the 20t (biggest) pinion
and this has to be THE class - one mistake and your out!

Great to hear!
Could anyone suggest to me a Mini (That would be suitable for racing) ? Im not sure of any Mini kit's. I think Tamiya might have one, but can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
JoshB.

These things were very fast at the Tamiya Worlds in Japan.

At castle hill and wollongong you can only run the 2wd tamiya mini in the mini classes, the 4wd cars have been banned, as they are essentially just another touring car class,
The mini class is a bare boned, box stock type of class, where driving is more a factor than how much money you can throw at the cars. It is a good formula and the racing is very close. It is essentially a control class in every sense, same bodies, chassis, motor, must use stick packs, and i think there may even be a spec tire, but not sure of that one.
If you are inteding to enter semi serious type of racing this is a good place to start

Excellent.
All I need now is a car
I saw one at Frontline hobbies for $249.00 which is a Tamiya Mini.
I may look at purchasing that.
Cheers,
Josh.
