Default 2017 St Ives Vintage EP10 OFR "1989 Worlds Re-release" event 6th August 2017

Hi all,

Yes new thread title (and date) for the event I had hoped we could have held back in April. But rain and other events made it impossible to fit another vintage event in so soon in the year.

So now we are planning for Sunday the 6th August.

More info will follow but plan is to keep classes simple and focus on a relaxed Vintage racing type event.

We are looking at buggies (2wd & 4wd) from the Vintage and Classic categories that many will be familiar with from the Castlehill Vintage Festival. But we are looking at the following classes.

2wd silver can motor
4wd silver can motor
2wd open motor (brushed or brushless)
4wd open motor (brushed or brushless)

So Vintage & Classic buggies will be in together. Hoping for re-grades through the event to keep the quicker people from the slower.

List of eligible buggies hopefully attached as per Castlehill Vintage and Classic buggy lists (acknowledging Mikey's work in compiling such lists).

And plan to run 'A' final, 'B' final etc after a few qualifiers.

I have been asked if people can change cars (for those with too many) through the day and this should be fine but you will need to ensure you keep to the basic premise of the the class e.g. 2wd buggy with silver can motor or whatever.

Other classes or groups could be added if interest is indicated.

Cheers.

Thanks David.
Yep we are ramping up to get this event planned.
Just have the St Ives CS round late in June so presently focused on that.

Looking at getting a '1989 Worlds' entry page on the St Ives RC website up and when it is we will open entries.

Will keep info coming as it comes together.

Thanks Mikey,

As soon as we get the St Ives round of the club series out of the way (25th June) I will be able to try to get a little more effort into the Vintage day on the 6th August.

Cheers.

Hi,

You can enter all of the classes if so desired.

I have had a few requests re separating the Plastic Fantastic guys (as they might struggle thrown in with the main mix) but as soon as I can get the entries page up and I see how many really want to run their grasshoppers etc, I will know more.

So if you have a car for each class then feel free to enter all.

Another request has been for entrants to be able to run 2 different cars in the same class. This would mean that 1 round you ran e.g. your Hotshot in 4wd stock (silver can) and then in round 2 you switched to an Optima (with stock motor/ silver can).
This might cause some issues with the regrading to try to keep more similar pace cars/ drivers running against each other so I thought it might work better if people just ran something in each class (if you have enough suitable cars an motors).

But am willing to consider options/ ideas.

Cheers.

Default Running more than 1 car in a class

Hi,
Discussed with the Race Director and he is happy for people to swap between cars within a class during the day.
So if you have 2+ cars in one class e.g. 4wd mod and you want to change cars then you can do this. Just try to remember to move the transponder between cars.

So just waiting on getting a designated 'Worlds' entry page up on the St Ives website and can then get started with entries for 6th August.
Don't jump in yet or you might just be entered for St Ives next club day (16th)

Looking at $10 per class.

Classes planned.
Plastic fantastic
2wd stock (silver can)
2wd mod (any motor, brushed or brushless)
4wd stock (silver can)
4wd mod (open motor, brushed or brushless)

Cheers.

Default 6th August '1989 Worlds Re Release' event

Just working on getting an entries page up on the St Ives RC club website and then we can start to see who will be running on the 6th August.

Track is really good at the moment.

As stated before, happy for people to run more than one car in a class but you won't be able to have more than one entry in that same class (hope that makes sense).
So you can enter e.g. 4wd stock only once but if you have 2 or 3 cars eligible for 4wd stock you can change cars to run a different car each round.

Also we will need people to marshal after your race. So am hoping people self limit to a max 3 classes. I am sure 2 or 3 classes will keep you plenty busy enough.

We will put up a plastic fantastic class and run it if we get 4 or more.

The idea is for a fun, relaxed day.

Will tell you when and where entries are open.

Thanks Mikey,

Thomas tells me that people can choose to pay up front via Pay Pal or choose to pass this and just enter and then pay on the day. If people pay before, it obviously saves me some time on the morning of the 6th with less collecting money etc but some people have mentioned they would prefer to pay on the day so am trying to cater to all.

I know a few people are awaiting cars/ still deciding which cars to run.

Hopefully will keep entries coming over the next 2 weeks.
