So what was the final decision with junior motors?
Personally as a father of a junior, why increase unnecessary cost and just make it any current 21.5 motor (as we all have an old one your kid uses), or alternatively the turnigy v1 most other meetings have stated as the control motor in the past so there is no need to spend more for the kids to have some fun and take it anywhere and race.

For XRS make sure everyone brings their own tables and chairs as there will not be enough loan tables at the track .

Just noticed no practice on Sunday. Surely an allowance for day trip interstate racers needs to be made to have a couple of laps before racing starts?
#83
I'm pretty sure on Sunday the track is open from 6:30, and would assume racing would start from around 7:30-8:00. that should give you some practice time.

It does say in the rules no Sunday practice but does allow a round if entries are low. up to the club really.
• Practice the day of the meeting is not allowed, except under exceptional circumstances (i.e. practice day rained out). If Entries are low and the organizers feel the need we suggest 1 full round of Practice in heats at 3mins each heat 1 Minute between heats.

Can't wait for this event. One more question. Are we allowed to open the control motors and reshim the magnets? Can we use Teflon washer? Can we replace motor bearing with ceramics?
#87
I will try to answer as many questions as possible.
1: The track will be open on Saturday between 10am and 4pm. Tyres will be available to purchase for practice. No rental motors will be available. This option is for race day only.
2:In regards to motor re-shimming. Due to the wave style washer located in the front of the motor holding a lot of tension on the rotor it would be acceptable to re-shim the motor (be it Teflon or brass style shim). At no stage are the bearings to be replaced with anything other than standard oem style bearing (no ceramics). This re-shimming is only allowed on motors purchased (not on rental motors).
3: At this stage there will be no practice on Sunday (race day) as per the rules. This is subject to change on the day based on conditions and entries.
4: Motor testing and FDR
*21.5: FDR is suggested at between 3.0:1 and 3.2:1 both of these FDR 's have resulting in vertically identical lap times (and run on 3 different models of chassis)
*13.5: FDR is suggested between 4.0:1 and 4.15:1 with a slightly lower lap time at 4.0: 1 (.1 only)
Temps for both these motors have ranged between 44 and 60 degrees after a full 6 minute run (+ 3 warm up laps)
I will update further in regards to race time and opening times for Sunday.

LAST CHANCE.
Tonight is the last chance you will get to sort out your car before the start of the XRS.
Weather is looking OK for this afternoon.
Gates will be open from 4pm and we will run through until approx 10pm (we need time to prepare the track for controlled practice tomorrrow).
So dont be shy. Pack your bags, get your trash talking in order and head towards Tempe.
See you there.
