Default Motors

Hi Guys,

I've ordered some parts for my Top Force and Manta Ray. If I convert one to brushless I should be able to run both on the day!

I'm thinking of going all new electrics in the Top Force, but I don't want to over power it and kill it! I used to run the TF with a 13 Turn Triple brushed motor with a 16 tooth pinion. What turn brushless motor would be similar in performance?

For the Manta Ray its mostly stock and I'm going to keep it with the old electrics, a Tekin 310 ESC and Trinity Green Machine Stock Motor. To control it I'll be using a Ko Ex-9 wheel.

To run both on the same day that will be one in vintage mod & the other in vintage stock.

Top Force in mod with a brushless set up would be around a 12t or 13t Ez Run. If you were to run a .5 brushless it will be around a 8.5 with no boosting.

Stock is only 540 Silver sealed cans so the Green Machine motor will have to go.Love the fact you are keeping all the old electrics.

I use a 12t EZ Run in all 4 of my Manta Ray/Top Force cars which is plenty fast enough.

The TF will have to run in Classic, as it has many Evolution mods. So the Manta Ray could run vintage mod with the Green Machine, but 540 could be fun? Lot of time to think about it!

And thanks for the motor tips!

yeah, had it shipped from the US when they just came out... all the parts were in a bag to avoid tax way back then. they even left the body out so as it looked like random small parts. had to use an rc10 body.

If it's a good enough copy of the stealth transmission it'll handle 5.5t, best motor for vintage.

lol thomas. Only you would say that a 5.5 is the best motor for a vintage car. My understanding is that it isn't the best copy of a stealth, kovacs was actually talking about converting his to run a stealth tranny. Maybe just a 6.5 would be better. I hope you've got a car or two to trundle out for the festival mate
