To whether 2wd sc has to use control front tire??? every other 2wd class has open fronts?

Thanks for asking Romsey and mharlow.

That 2WD Buggy and Truck have only the driven axle controlled is written into the rules. Because SCT is a demo class only the host can pretty much do whatever they want in terms of rules.

I take your point though. The reason the undriven axles usually aren't controlled is that the low wear rate on front tyres means that the concerns about having to carry boxes of different tread patterns and compounds etc. just aren't there. At most you'd need 6 different pairs of 2WD fronts I would think, which is a far cry from the 40 pairs of rear tyres I used to take to a Nats.

Maybe because SCT is supposed to be a more scale looking class they have decided to keep the front and rear tyres the same for appearance reasons.

No problems.

One reason we thought a control front tyre would be the way to go is interstate competitors won't have to pack or purchase at the event various tread/rubber compounds due to a lack of local track time & local knowledge.

Interestingly we ran control front & rear for the 6 hour SCT enduro last year with no hassles or complaints that I know of.

There is a massive amount of SCT tyre choice out there now and expanding daily.

Others may have a different opinion but the St Ives Club is keen to run SCT with a level playing field as much as possible.

Quick question: is there an update to the EP OFR rules for January 2012 coming, or is the version currently on the website the one we will be racing to at the Nats?

Considering there is no stock/17.5 SCT I would suggest this shouldn't be a problem. Will clarify though.

Hey there guys, with SCT bodies are we alowed to have air hole cut outs? And how many sets of tyres can we have per class?
Cheers
Scott.

Hi Andrew,

Cross Entering involving SCT is not a problem.
SCT is not a sanctioned class at this point so it is not against any rules.
We mainly want to see what interest there is and gauge where the interest is.

Scott,

No air holes can be cut out other than the standard body vent holes, which in the case of SCT is none I believe.

6 sets per class.

No air holes would be a good rule, but what about bodies such as the Proline Flotek which have marked vent holes.
If they are allowed to be vented it will force everyone to buy one to stay competitive.
