Newcastle Grass Burn: August 18th & 19th (EP10 OFR)

Newcastle Grass Burn
Earlier this year MORCC were invited to put up a display at the Hunter's largest model show – the Our Town Model Show – which attracts around 8,000 visitors every year. We asked to be able to put on a race meeting, and have been granted use of a pair of disused bowling greens for the event.
The race will be put on at the Newcastle Jockey Club (NJC) inside the Our Town Model Show (if you pre-enter we can get you into the show free), this will be a meeting on grass with wooden jumps, and will run like a slightly more professional club meeting. We have a temporary drivers' stand that is 1.5m tall (thanks to PDNR who haven't asked for it back yet). We have a lot of space for the track and the pit area (actually the venue is so awesome that if I were looking to start a new offroad EP club I'd ask here first). The pit will be fenced off from spectators, but there will be plenty of room for them on 2 sides of the track, and we expect them to be 4 or 5 rows deep.
Practice will be on Saturday the 18th of August (9-5), racing on Sunday the 19th starting just after 9 a.m. and finishing at 4 p.m.
We'll be racing all the 1/10th EP Offroad classes: 2WD Stock, 2WD Mod, 4WD Stock, 4WD Mod, Stock Truck, Mod Truck, Mod Pro-2 SCT, Mod 4x4 SCT, and a Rookie class for new racers.
To cater to the spectators all races will be grid start, and we'll have a points for rounds format similar to the Reedy Race. At this stage I'm looking at using random grids.
For those thinking about travelling up from Sydney the NJC is just 2 km from Broadmeadow Train station (where EVERY train stops), and there are always a heap of taxis waiting out front. It's also just 5 km from the centre of Newcastle and its beaches, and so would make a good weekend away.

This is now MORCC's next Electric Offroad meeting.
Maitland members will be able to get into the show by showing their membership cards. We'll provide a list of non-club members who pre-enter for the organisers. So, if you're not from Maitland and want to race post your details here: http://www.morcc.com.au/smf/index.php?topic=3941.0
