You'll both be very welcome guys.

Anyone can enter 1 touring car class, or Mini, or 1 touring car class and Mini. This gives entrants the option of running two classes without the issue of a top driver taking home 2 touring car trophies.

To give an idea of timing - last year with 71 entries each round took 1 hr 3 minutes. So 5 rounds per day was very comfortable. Of course the total numbers we get this year, and how they are spread throughout the classes, will impact on how long each round takes to run. In 2009 with 88 entries the rounds took 1 hr 19 min each.

Of course there will be lots of people to talk about RC cars with between rounds!

540 this year will not be age restricted, any tyres are fine (ie; control tyres will not be used for 540), motor will not be hand out (ie; supply your own motor or motors) but motors must meet VORTEC regulations. Basically making it as easy as possible to compete in 540

Can I ask what track will be used for this event?

I am keen to come down and have another run, as I had a ball last year, will just depend on whether I can get time off work.

Hopefully there will be a hot field of mini drivers attending.

Thanks,

Calvin.

it's looking like there could be 2 540 pro cars and a 21.5t car from the BAM stables

I hope to race in 21.5t

I am not sure on how 5 qualifiers (best 3 count) works.

Traditionally Cal they announce the track Thursday night b4 the event. I suppose that way the locals don't get the advantage.

Thanks Damien for the info regarding the track. I'm sure last year when i asked they advised on here which track, so that I had an idea.

Last years was track 2. Hopefully I will be informed prior to the event, so I can come down early and get in some solid practice. I had great fun practicing last year with Tim, TonyP and Paul.

I might even have to try another class, other than mini.

Later,

Calvin.

Hi Calvin. Damaniac is absolutely right about the usual way we've announced the track layout. However, the times they are a changin'. Track will be Track 2. You can see the layout here (scroll down to Track 2). This is a different layout to the layout we run on club days so as not to favour local drivers as much as practical.

Great to hear you had a ball last year. This year will be more of the same fun - but hopefully with much better weather!!

We are hoping for a strong field of Mini drivers - the Mini class is sponsored by M-Chassis.com and the event will be widely promoted to the Mini community.

Great question - this extract from the entry form (currently being finalised) should clarify:
  • 5 Qualifiers will be run per class
  • Points will be awarded for your overall finishing position in each qualifier (time/distance). Best 3 results (based on points awarded) out of 5 will be added together to produce your Qualifying Position
  • IFMAR staggered start
  • 6 minute qualifiers for all classes except Open which will be 5 minutes
  • Starting position for Qualifier 1 will be determined by the organizers. Starting position for Qualifiers 2 – 5 will be determined by your finishing position in the previous qualifier
  • No re-grading will occur during qualifying but a qualifying report will be printed at the end of each qualifying round so you can see how you are tracking against those in your class

Stevo_Aus,

Thank you for the heads up. Hopefully this year the weather will be more favourable than last year.

I also hope to find cheaper accommodation than last year. At least this time I will have more time to do some research. Any assistance appreciated.

I think Mini and TC. Which class undecided.

CYAs

Calvin.

Not sure who is the cheapest. We don't road test or endorse any particular accommodation but we list some of the closest options on the club website here.

Feel free to post where you decide to stay. I'm sure other visitors will appreciate it and it helps the atmosphere at the accommodation if there are others from the event staying there!
