From what I saw, I have to say that the stock class at the J-Concepts was easily some of the closest and most entertaining stock racing I have watched for a long time. The decision to slow the class down has been vindicated. From what I have heard over the last few meetings around the country - the whole thing was a storm in a tea cup, and stock class racing is closer than it has ever been.

Looking forward to an ultra competitive stock scene this year.

Cheers

Darryn

That's just states/nationals usually, once you've had a good run you start before the slower cars in your heat anyway, so you've just gotta lap them which usually works out fine. I think most problems in qual are with cars that are really close in speed getting bunched up

That's one of the major problems with grading, yes. Another one is that you get relatively quick drivers at the tail of the A heat losing time having to move over a lot more, while the drivers at the head of the B heat have a cleaner run as people move over for them.

Personally, I've never considered pre-grading fair. I think it should be completely random. That would be the only method that would really give everyone the same chance of qualifying well. Pre-grading (without practice times as a guide) is purely subjective, and I really dislike that a person could get an advantage or disadvantage on the basis of what an official decided was a good grouping before the event began.

Full stops and question marks? Boring! You guys need to branch out into more exciting punctuation. Try a semi-colon or an exclamation mark occasionally. If you are feeling really adventurous maybe a dash, colon, hyphen or even an ellipsis... Say, have you considered an interrobang!?

1st and 3rd Sundays

Heaps of grip. Dave Warner did a great job using the blower on the track. I wore out 2 sets of rear tyres.

I'm a bit hesitant with 'punctuation' using anything with the work 'colon' in it.

Perhaps you could work on your percontation points instead then. They are likely to be quite handy in this thread.

Crack team?
At the JC Clash last week, scrutineering the Stock classes was a lot easier than most people thought. There's only 2 things people will have to get used too.
1. Leaving the Transmitter in scrutineering.
2. Positioning the ESC in 4WDs so the lights can be seen.

Other than that, it was a piece of (p!$$) cake.

Mav
Mav,

can you please explain how scrutineering works for those not at the clash.

Particularly how the am/fm cars will be scrutineered.

Thanks Tom

Just speaking for myself, I'd say the Club Series is probably likely to continue to preference National classes over others in the future, unless numbers fall.

SCT is probably popular enough right now to be a National class, but for that to happen one of the other classes would have to be dropped, because State Title meetings couldn't accommodate another one.
maybe they should drop truck and 2wd stock as there are not many people running them any more .....

So few people are running old radios these days that it's probably easy enough to make sure everyone through the entire meeting is on different frequencies
