SMA Stock Shootout - 13 march
#62
The SMA Stock Shootout is going to be very interesting indeed on Tuesday night there were some very quick stock cars getting around SMA 1 car even got within .6sec of the fastest 10.5 quickest lap!!!!
Also Just to clarify all 17.5 motors being used for this event must be ROAR approved.
So as I said before a big call out to all drivers what ever class you normally run weather its mod, 10.5, 17.5, or 540/21.5 come on down to SMA on the
13th of March at 3pm
It's going to be one helluva afternoon/evening!!!!

Two Weeks To Go!!!!!
Who will be the fastest
will the new LRP speedy be able to keep up???
Or will the Tekin wipe the field???
Will drivers from 10.5 and mod show the stock guys how to do it???
Or will they have their butts smacked by the quick stock boys!!!
These and many other questions will be answered in two weeks time at the SMA Stock Shootout!!!!
Don't forget we also running an old school class so shake the dust of that old girl and give her a run.

This should be renamed the TEKIN Shoot Out
Some Canberra boys are getting Kambah back up and running. I ran stock today to compare the speed between my SPX which I usually run with 10.5 and these TEKIN's prior to coming to SMA in two weeks.
I ran the '08 Nats winning car & setup against three Tekin powered photons driven by Mil Rogic, Mat Barham & slow Rick Sammons and had my arse handed to me on a plate. Ran an SP17.5 with FDR varying from 3.9 upto 4.9, 10deg of timing on Mode 8 with only slight improvements across the day
Now Kambah is a big fast track, but to be a second a lap slower across 5mins and 0.5 slower in best lap is f#%*ed. I didn't really believe the gap between the two ESC was that great, but it is.
IMHO, if you are going to SMA with an LRP SPX and expect to be near the front, you'll be at the front alright, the front of the C Final if your lucky. If you get the newer LRP, you might get closer, but you have probably spent a couple of $100 more than you needed.
If I attend the race in two weeks, it won't be with an LRP. Kingpops said he might lend me a Tekin for the day, trying to coax me to the "free upgrades and speed" side that Tekin represents.
These are my thoughts and advice for anyone thinking of using the SPX, save yourself the embrassment and go buy yourself some speed.

SMA STOCK SHOOTOUT AND OLD SCHOOL STOCK RACE 13 MARCH 2010
9 Days to go.
Track layout has been chosen and has a good mix of fast and slow sections that should make for some very nice racing!!!
Remember the event is schedualed for 3pm start, track will be open earlier in the day for practice.
Will a regular stock driver take the cake or will a driver from another class show us how its done!!!
Also hows everyone going on getting their old school beast ready for the event???
I'd luv to see some pic's if you want to post them on here.
Cheers,
Steve T

At least I'll win something Mounty
Just so everyone knows we've got some great prizes on offer this weekend. We're just firming up the final details but the top 3 stock drivers will receive $100 hobby store vouchers (shops TBC soon). Not bad eh?
We'll also have some spot prizes on the day (maybe biggest drift should win something?) with some bodies, muchmore gear, and hugs from Steve Taulanga
