2010 1/8th Off-road Nats
#1

Why is it being run at SDMCC???????
The reason I ask this is that I had to fight tooth and nail to host the 09 Nats in Perth and had to reassure the Officials from AARCMCC Off-road over and over that we would have a facility and people to run the event properly. (it's not like we stuffed the 05 Nats up)
Now I see that SDMCC is hosting the 2010 Nats and quite frankly I'm pissed.
Don't get me wrong here it's great that the guys at SDMCC want to host the event and this is in no way a dig at you guys here so please accept my apologies if this thread upsets any member of SDMCC in any way.
The point is the facility is not up to the standard outlined in the rules, has no where near enough parking, a poorly designed and too small a drivers stand and a track that is no where near good enough to host such an event.
If Australia want's to up it's profile and put out a good message of the direction Nitro Off-road racing is taking then this is not the way to do it.
The only message that I can see coming from this is that a club only needs to have a facility which only partially measures up to the standard if at all to be able to host a Nats. This is certainly not the way to encourage better facilities around the country.
Over here in WA we have consistantly raised the bar in regards to Nitro Off-road facilities which has had a flow on effect in other parts of the Australia and I am pleased to say that most States have great facilities to race at.
Once again I take my hat off to the guys at SDMCC for wanting to host next years Nats but it must be up to the officials in AARCMCC to ensure that the facilities are up to the job and comform to the rules. Failure to do so is in my opinion letting Nitro Off-road racing down as a whole.

122 entries for this week's SA Titles and 104 last year. Not bad for a venue that's not up to scratch. How many entries at the Nats last year?
Anyway, there's nothing to worry about- we're gonna run it on a temporary track, on grass, with jumps made from wood, with a trailer for a rostrum, just like the '05 Nats.

You do know there is a rotation list and every state has a turn.
Do you really think your thread is appropriate for a public forum.
If you have issues with AARCMCC you should contact your state deligate and direct your questions through them not bag a club in public which does not help the sport which was one of your reasons for questioning SA having the Buggy Nats?

thought this might be good reading for this thread - its sort of RELEVANT!!!!
Breaking News regarding car parking at the 2009 SA state titles!!!
The SDMCC committee together with the city of Onkaparinga would like to announce that parking on the reserve will be ALLOWED
for this weeks state titles event.
Extract from letter sent to Recreation Services from SDMCC….
“This proposed compound would be located north of the track area and would allow parking for competitors vehicles only.
The movement of these vehicles would be restricted to entry in the morning of the event and exit only after the conclusion of the days activities (8.-00am to 4.30pm).
The compound will be fenced using “orange bunting mesh” and the cars would be strictly monitored by an SDMCC committee member for security purposes.”
Further Details on parking to be confirmed in the next few days.

I say again no offence to any of the SDMCC club members and anyone helping out. I know there is a rotation of the states to hold this event, my only point is and it's no fault of SDMCC is the fact the facility should be up to the standards to run such an important event otherwise throw away the AARCMCC rules. With the parking issue sorted as well as some other stuff then I would personally feel better about attending the 2010 Nats.
For example last year at the States Dale was pinned for comming into the pitlane too fast when he wasn't. The culprit was a rock that was on the ramp into the pitlane making the car leave the ground and I am just concerned that it could have been avoided.
Any way keep on with the news updates as it goes a long way to creating a better impressoin of the facility and the organization.
BTW this is going to be our third States at SDMCC and we are looking forward to it. Just a question mate about the issue of the drivers stand what can us short asses stand on if anything?
Oh and I did ask the Secretary of AARCMCC Off-road and the response was that there quite a few who don't want the 2010 Nats there but it is going ahead anyway. What else can they say I guess.

Hi Mr Smelly62, i am a SDMCC club member from a long time, i have to agree with you when you say "must be up to the officials in AARCMCC to ensure that the facilities are up to the job" but my question is :are you one of them? because if you are not and it is not up to you to ensure it and also you are not a SDMCC club member i don t understand what do you want from us.We got the right people in our committe and club to do the job that we need for the 2010 Nat. I hope to see you at the 2010 nat with your apology.

I've been reading this thread and bitting my tounge and for the life of me i'm still trying to work out what the fuss is about the only people that have the right to say wether or not a club can hold the nats are the aarmcrcc commitee and no one else yes if you have a problem with it let then know not here and if you still don't like the idea of it being there thats easy DON'T GO to me it's just that easy so all i'm going to say is good luck to sdmcc with it all and hope it's a good event and all runs well. my 2 cents worth
