Servo stall prevention
This is a bit off the RC topic but I'm busy with a mechanical clamp that needs to be actuated by a Servo.
The HS 5070 servo will work perfectly for this job. My problem is opening and closing the clamp with the servo I need to drive the servo into stall to have continous gripping force on the clamp. I sadly have no space for a spring to hold the force. Ok my question is can Hitec servos survive continuous stall conditions or can I setup a low resistance high wattage resistor in series with the power to prevent full stall current is drawn. I have tried a few other suppliers KDS servo died after about 5mins and a Savox I had died with in a minute, Strangely I have a dirt cheap hextronics servo that was in stall for about 2 hours and works fine. Hope you can assist me with this. My product is intended for market later this year and I really would like to avoid early failures in the field. |
