Digitals for throttle/brake
 

I have been using a 5625 for steering in my MBX-5 and am about to use a 5945 instead for more torque. I had been using a JR 550 for throttle/brake and I'm thinking about putting the 5625 there.
Is it a bad idea to use a digital servo for the throttle/brake?

just make sure your endpoints are set right and you will be fine

Yes it's a bad idea,Digital servos do not like to be stalled,it will burn them up.Your endpoints are important but if you think about it on a steering servo when you set your endpoints you are not really stalling the servo like you do when you hit your brakes on a throttle servo,I have tried to use a digital servo for the throttle and i did set my endpoints but i still burned the servo out.I did talk to a hitec tech and was told that you can/will burn up a digital servo by stalling them,All i could figure out is i did not have the brake side endpoints set right but any less brake it would not stop,It took about 2 months before it quit.

I totallly agree with what xxxkat said. I have had the same experiences and was told the same thing by hitec and airtronics.

The new HSC-599X Ti gear car servos are specifally designed to be able to be used in throttle/brake applications; especially 1/8th buggy where we have done thorough testing with excellent results.

They key is the new carbon brush motor with heatsink to help with heat disapation.

there is nothing wrong with hitec 90% of it ppl dotn knwo how to set the endpoints and butrn them up and blame it on hitec

Glad you like them,I just wont buy them because of centering issues,I have been told that their Ti servos are very very good but at the prices they want for them i can get brands "I" trust for the same or less money.

Well I guess we just have to keep working hard to overcome those feelings.

Most people are quick to say our servos don't center well only to find out that they are comparing a $40 servos to a $100+ servo of a compeditor.

The Ti servos will speak for themselves when more people start to use them and see how good they really are.

Yes I think hitec does have a hill to climb,The servos that I dont think are up to par are in the "6" series(605,625,645)$30 to $45 price range,Their are some "other" servos in this price range that dont have centering problems..It's not that i dislike hitec it's just so far i have not had much luck with hitec,I'm trying a 5625 digital but it's starting to have some centering issues.Is this servo the digital version of the 625 ?? and if that is the case the 5945 would be the digital version of the 945?? Now on the Ti servos,what are you guys doing different from everyone else? I thought that if you stall any digital servo for very long it will(or can)cause the printed circuit board to burn.I thought the Ti part was just the gears.

:lol: yea and I've been told by hitec reps that their servos dont have a centering problem.. :nod: so before i use a $115 servo for a throttle,I would want to make sure i wont burn it up.

yea that is true i dont cear what none of them sat i am not useing a digiral on throttle .
