Glitching

I just upgraded to a HS 925 MG from a standard JR 250. Seems to be causing some glitching. I use a JR XR2 AM radio and rec. When I switch back to the old servo, no glitch. The glitch occurs when the when centering and at both ends of the rotation. Is this an AM problem???

What is probably happening is that your end points are not set properly. The servo is traveling past its mechanical limits and is drawing excessive current causing the stuttering. When its at center its the same thing. Its drawing more current than your Rx can supply without causing glitching. AM radio's are succeptable to that. High end servos draw more power than the standard ones do. What speed control are you using??

I was using a Novak Explorer II when it was glitching. I switched it to a Novak Dually and made no other changes and it works perfect! I would like to be able to use it with both if possible.

From Novak Support

...The Explorer II has problems with certain high
torque metal gear servos. It's BEC is rated to .5 amps. If the servo draws more current than that it will shut the ESC off momentarily when the servo is moved. The Dually has a 3 amp BEC so there is no problem...

What a HUGE difference a good servo makes! Thanks for making such great products!!

Thanks for the kudos, glad you like our products. There's not much that can be done about the Explorer's current output to the Rx tho. :(

I know a couple of people who have had the same problems with that ESC. Too bad, because it works great other than that.

It worked great otherwise. I can't tell the difference between it and the Dually. Never had a problem. I'm gonna try it in a 4 cell 1/12th scale with a HS 225 MG and see if that works.

The Explorer II will work with 4 cells with out damaging anything.
However the radio priority circuitry is designed for 6 cells so you may not be able to run the pack as dead as you would with a properly configured 4 cell ESC.

We run eight minutes, but I think I can make it in stock with SMH cells. We'll see!
