Multiplex Profi car 707 radio
Looking for a little different radio and was thinking of possible getting one of these units. Anyone know where to get one, like a hobby shop that carries them and how much. I like that it can on AM or FM. Whay crystals can it use and what receivers.
Thanks Brian |

Brian,
I for one will stick with my Multiplex 403. Like you, I've looked at a number of other radios and although many offer alot of other functions, the Multi remains my favorite for it's feel, lightness, and COMMON SENSE FUNCTIONS. The only other "high end" radio I'll be buying would me the M8. I've had the KO and after realising that I would never use many of it's settings, I sold it. The JR is just plain huge so I ruled it out early on. Quite honestly, unless you REALLY have use for all those minute increment adjustments....take a hard look at the 707. It really does offer the best compromise between high tech radios with to many features and more basic radios with to few or useless features. I've had my 403 for 2 years without a problem and I even took it apart so I could put a custom paint job on it !! The absolute only problem I ever had was that when it's blistering hot outside, the display started to go dark. I solved it by applying a piece of amber/yellow plastic film over the display. I hope the next models may come with a back lit display. I use mine with a Novak XXtra rx and I've always used multiplex crystals. Give Carlton a call at Multiplex USA to see where to get one. |
Tres thanks for the info. I actually use the CRX now and do like it but the feel is just not exactly to my liking. Can't put my finger on it but something with the grip just dosen't feel right when I hold it. I have tried different grips and different grip wraps but I still can't get the feel I'm looking for. The features and ease of programing are great. Very big improvment over the 3D.
Evoracer I like the fact that the Multiplex radio can be on either AM or FM output and run any brand receivers. Need to get some more info on what crystals you need to run with this radio. I did have a buddy that uses one but I don't hardly ever see him to get some info from him. He has a 403. I do remember it being super lightweight and he does really like it alot. It did feel pretty good in my hand as well. I was looking at the 707 mainly becasue of the additional model memories (12). I need to find out how much these radios cost. I'm going to call my local hobbyshop as I think they get Multiplex stuff and get more info. |
The 707 does add the ABS system. Especially good if you run Nitro. The crystals are single conversion but i really couldn't say what other brand crystals would work. I haven't checked but I think now that Hitec purchased Multiplex, any shop that sells Hitec should be able to get the radio for you. I got my 403 for $120 w/no servos. Can't say what you could buy for.....the shop I bought from wasn't trying hard to sell them and I think I bought at rock bottom. Take a look on Ebay also...some good deals show up there pretty often.

Nice I will check Ebay some. I will call my hobbyshop today and see what they can dig up for me on price. Are you running 27 band or 75 on your Profi? I might be get the 75 band and then get a 27 band module to as I have alot of stuff on 27 AM and I could just use my Profi for everything.

I'm on 75 mhz. BTW, just another little something interesting....Multiplex was using the 60hz high speed signal at least a year before KO and Futaba started making noise about their "new" high speed systems. Don't be afraid to use Multiplex servos either...they're great !! I've had no problems with my Profi speed for over a year. Multiplex should be releasing their new synthesized rx soon also!! Damn !! I sound like the Multiplex spokesman!! All bs aside, I really hope Hitec puts some effort into marketing Multiplex electronics. I've been using their aircraft stuff for years and it's considered one of the very best.

Evoracer I actually have the RX-5 receiver on order from about a month ago. My shows new program from Horizon shows they should have them in stock in early March. Talked with my shop and they are calling Monday for pricing for me. I think I will go with the 707 model. I might get the one with the 3/4 pico receiver to. It really depends on pricing. I'm going to put my Hitec CRX up for sale with at least 3 receivers (need to check becasue I have a few receivers) and my synthesized module.
Glad to hear your radio works for you. I know my buddy that has one said he really liked it. He uses it in gas offroad and some Tamiya touring cars. |
Evoracer is correct, the servos are nice also.
I run the a Multiplex digi in my 12th... VERY smooth & fast! |

Tres what servo horn do the Multiplex servos use? Do they use Hitec, Futaba, Airtronics ones fit them.
|
Profi speed mcV2 is the best servo. metal gears and not to shabby on speed. the servo horn is Sanwa.

Best radio on the market, period.
Multiplex was the first company to have digital servos. BTW, there is a 403 on Ebay right now, god deal ;) |

BTW, there is a 403 on Ebay right now, god deal ;) Evoracer have you tried going from 75 FM to 75 AM at all. I found an old Extreme mag I had that had a report on the 707 radio. It seemed to me that I could have 75 FM crystals in and then go to 75 AM and still use the same crystals. Also seemed like from reading that if I put 27 band crytals in I could 27 band stuff. Is any of this true? |
