Difference between dual conversion and single conversion

What is the difference between 'dual conversion' and 'single conversion'. I see receivers/crystals etc advertised and being referred to as either dual or single conversion but not sure what that means.

Basically what happens is that in a Dual conversion, the signal gets filtered twice to ensure a clean signal to the Rx. This minamalizes any interference to your car. Single conversion will filter the signal once.

In 5 years using the DCX, I have never had a glitch or radio hit. I love them. TTYL.
