status of electric offroad racing in Phoenix metro?

What kind of turn out is Hobbytown SRS getting for club races? Are people in general waiting for the new Hobby Action track to open up?

Also, this forum seems pretty dead. Is that just a reflection of the hobby locally, a migration to Facebook, or are there other online forums I'm missing?

Not sure about the off-road status but the on-road racers have migrated to Facebook, using the name Arizona Scale Racers. There are a number of the on-road guys that race off-road too.

Srs turnouts suck! Most are racing elsewhere till hobby action opens.

I recently moved to Phx and from what I could see racing did not have great turnouts at SRS. This is likely because they were club racing 3 times a week and then threw a couple series in as well. On top of that since I moved here in June I have not seen a layout change yet . . . that would burn me out too. This forum does seem pretty dead, not aware of other forums where people are talking. Maybe when hobby action opens up we will see more people talking . . .

i'm not in PHX area, i race at HT in Tucson and many drivers are missing lately who run 1/10 electric. i was told they are traveling north and doing 1/8 scale nitro offroad racing at Fear Farm Raceway which has a series race going on.

not sure if SRS has racers doing 1/8 scale and skipping 1/10th for now?

I can't speak for others but I assume the turnout dwindled after I quit racing at SRS for the same reasons; lack of track maintenance, conditions were very inconsistent--mostly because the owner appointed this poor 17 year old girl to run the entire race day by herself AND water the track..by herself. Parts support sucked and the majority of the people running the shop were apathetic and never wanted to do anything besides BS with friends at work. It got to a point where it wasn't enjoyable to drive 50 miles to race for 15 minutes at a track that was lacking substantially.

I will put in my .98 cents,
First I think most forums are becoming ghost towns, as it’s a lot easier to use FB.
For me it all comes down to disposable income.
The closes track to me is Fear Farm, where it will cost me $120 a month just to race, not including parts and upgrades. Money I do not have.
Next would be Paddock’s which is just a back yard track good for bashing
Then SRS from everything I have read and seen is a poor track, and their club racing days do not work for me.
Gilbert is on road and not for me
I would head to Tucson as they have a dirt oval track and seems like a great place but then it comes down to income again.

Gilbert is closed.
