I kind of noticed that, I think that's why I decide to build my SC10s strictly for racing and take my slash and make it something fun to playing around with. Put a winch and some lights one it, build a trailer for it and make it look like it's used to pull the race trucks.

there is a hobbytown on speedway, from what i have seen many in tucson got spoiled while a indoor RC track was open. many are not able to handle inclement weather varying form the heat in summer to recent cold.

i talked to some and they are making trips to hobbytown-SRS in phoenix. i found this link with some pics, etc. very impressive

before phoenix had a indoor place to race, many would make trips to tucson, the situation has reversed.

last RC track in SV was on fry blyd at what is now the lawley hyundai dealership. the outdoor dirt track was large enough for 1/8 gas cars, well kept and attracted drivers from tucson. they raced mostly 1/10 scale 2wd trucks/buggies. they used HT in tucson for parts, some drivers sold extra parts they had. track shutdown due to land being sold, then paved for the dealership.
four hobby shops have had short lives in SV, demographics aren't there to support RC car racing.

if you live in SE AZ, you will have to travel at least to tucson

It would be awesome if Tucson had more tracks then just hobby town, I heard that hobby barn is building a track somewhere but I'm not sure of the rumors. I was told Compitition Hobbies had a very nice indoor track, It shut down long before I got into the hobby but if that's the case, that's really to bad

The Barn does own the flying field on Valencia & Hougton. I always wondered why they didn't do something out there? Next time I go by my moms I'll take a look and see if they're breaking ground on something there. I used to be in with those guys but it's been 20yrs.

I was just in that area today and it didn't look like anything was changing in that area but I didn't go back there and look.

Does anyone know if hobby town in Tucson uses a 2 or 3 wire transponder for racing?

CH was a seriously nice indoor track, off road dirt, along with a carpet track in a high traffic location. CH got alot of support from greater phoenix area racers coming down. CH imo was a success, imo tucson now i don't think it could not support two tracks, now that the situation is reversed. i haven't been to it yet in person but HT-SRS in phoenix from what i see online is CH + way more. i found this link couple of days ago.

http://liverc.com/news/race_results/...the_racetrack/

to me it's just as impressive as CH was, but a rather huge drive for me. i called to see if they had on road racing going, they told me TC interest crashed, and no indoor 12th scale.

i have not talked to anyone or catch adam in tuscon HT, sure would have been great if adam was able to takeover the old CH. been out of the AZ RC scene for years. i have no clue why CH shutdown, or if the old CH building is already being used for something else now?

That place looks so awesome. I would have take trips a couple times a week from vail to run up there. It was beautiful. Like 10 guy should go in a warehouse and build something massive

The MyLaps 2 wire transponders work, as do a couple other kinds, not sure what though. I run the 2 wire ones. Best thing to do is make a trip out on Saturday and take a look around, ask questions, etc...

I'm thinking about trying to make it out today, I have to see if my wife will be ok driving me out there, I have a shattered hip and am not allowed to drive for a while longer. If you see someone out there on crutches, that's me

Two wire AMB's work there also. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we definitely won't be racing tonight, and probably not Saturday night either. Looks like it's time for an SRS road trip.

What classes does SRS run?
