Default Places closed, where to race?

I hope I'm not sounding dumb here but reading a lot of these threads, there seems to be no where to race that's not super competitive like W3. I have a 5 year old that I've been trying to mold into a racer, he's been racing SCT for about a year now and the local track we were frequenting shut down. I'm on the west side, is there a place we can practice without spending $20 to get in, just to race for about 15 minutes at a time?

I am not sure if he is still doing open practice but Paddocks place in Goodyear is a great place to get run time in. You can look up his thread on here and send him a message.

Sadly the only place now with competition is W3 and their motto is " pay to play".

I don't really want competition yet. Maybe some small races but last time I was at W3 it was not fun due to how many people were there and the competetivness of the people racing.

Can you name a place that does not charge that has racing?

I'm pretty sure you can practice all day at W3 for 10 or $15 on non race days. Not that there wont be racers there practicing but if it gets too hairy they will split it up by vehicle type or ability. Plus the motto is "pay before you play"

Also SRS in Scottsdale is still open for another couple of months at that location and you could prolly practice there with less of a crowd but not sure if they prep the track on days other than Friday night practice.

May be best to call either shop to get all the details and explain your situation / needs and they will tell you the best times for practice

SRS is too far for me, I may call W3 and see what's up there on off days. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not looking to play for free...

Just somewhere to play that can be sensitive to newer drivers.

I should be paid for bringing in everything there and have VIP parking. Without my profession that place wouldn't exist.

Arm strain?...that would only possibly occur from say tossing an rc car 15 or so feet.
