Default New track coming to Yuma!

We have just received a new park from the city in which we are going to be building a new RC track and complex! The entire facility will be built from the ground up!

Currently, our track will be about 150 x 90, and will be designed for short course and 1/8th scale buggies and truggies!

More information and pictures will be posted soon!

My Dad is going back down this fall for winter so I'll be there for sure but not until later this year. Drink some beer with Pops, hit the dunes and RC racing at a new track...... all in one trip? Are you kidding me?

The land is being cleared, The fence will be put up, and the track design is being worked on (by some legendary building talent too )

This is a picture of the land!

Off to the left is the Valley Aquatic Center, Center and directly back is a fully developed park with BBQs, Pavillions, Playgrounds, and baseball diamonds, And to the right, is a head start! (that way we can entice young ones into the hobby! )

Gonna love watching this track built from ground up One of my careers I worked in was Project Manager in Beverly Hills. Please post pictures of what's been done and waiting for building inspectors to sign off on work.

Awesome....so glad to hear you guys are making it for 8th scale. I know quite a big group of racers who love taking road trips for 8th scale racing.
What time frame are you thinking this track will be open?

The city is in the process of putting up the fence for the complex! We are shooting for a mid-august opening at the latest. But it may be earlier than that...

And we can use all the help we can get to build the track when the time comes. We have people with loads of experience building tracks, and they are always happy to pass along ideas and knowledge

Update:

Sorry its been a while since an update was posted, been busy with the track.

The land has been cleared, the irrigation for the adjacent field has been laid, the 6-foot chain link fence has been installed, the dirt for the track has been brought to the site, and the electrical lines/lighting and the water lines are being installed this week!

We will have a final design within the next 2 weeks, and construction on the track will begin on the 25th of this month! (I know, I know, the best time of the year to build a track in Yuma )

BUT, the heat wont drive us away when we are determined to build a new RC track!

I'm in. I try and get down to Yuma to see family a few times a year, so I'll show up every now and again.

We are shooting for our grand opening to be on the 15th of September. The City of Yuma has a massive park party/fun day thing at the adjacent park that day, and it usually draws over 3000 people, so we are shooting to have our first big event that day while the attention in the area is up...

Track build is still set for the 25th! We are starting at 6am, come help out if you can! The city gave us free passes to the adjacent swimming pool to cool off after the long hot day!

Hope to see some folks out there!
