seems to be some mass confusion concerning 1/12 scale, with ESCs

Punch control = current limiting, nothing more... all ESCs have it as a tuning option even in blinky mode

some ESCs like Hobbywing V3.1 have two stage punch customization, for making a car more controllable at low end and full punch where you select it to be....again this is not boost. clones from Sky Toro TS120, Gforce 1S 120A, therefore have the same option and possibly the Cerix PRO 120 1S

Newer HW brand ESCs have punch control in a different way called softening value. Softening function (HOBBYWING-initiated) for milder or wilder driving control and better driving efficiency you can add softening in lower throttle range like 0-30%, hence taking away punch, and then have zero softening at 30%+ throttle, which is full punch. hence two stage punch

zero softening = full punch

Boosters enable racers to use ESCs from their buggies, TC,s and cheaper just stock $48 low end esc's. they do not boost power to the motor, they are used raise the voltage for the receiver and servo https://www.hobbywingdirect.com/prod...iant=577781305

Hey, if you're buying 1/12th tires, look for the HT stickers. I got 2 pair last week that didn't have them.

The two pair I got a couple weeks back didn't have any either.

about that time days prior there was a temp shortage on X2 pink rears, they had spec PU fronts and spec PU rears. probably ended up putting the pinks on the shelves to get them out faster, many were needing them due to cooler track temps. i would talk to HT owner or race director there, sure they will hook you up

12th tires did not come in, talked race manager, he said tires were showing in transit as of this past tuesday, no status past that. was also informed they are added pink rears to the HT spec tire list along with XX Pink, and Spec Purple rears.

some had to run non store spec tires tonight to race 1/12th, was a non-issue, no advantages noted

lonny, i did not see what your car was or not doing, we need to get you dialed to the asphalt

HT is allowing VTA tires now to be used on Tamiya semi truck class, from what i was told there is a shortage and backlog on the stock tires and wheels. i know the kit wheels have had a issue with the centers cracking/busting out.

HT 1/12th shipment of tire came in shortly after previous post, pink rears are hooking up really good.

The two tracks look great. I was curious about what tires the 12th scale guys are running on the asphalt track. In the summer we have a parking lot series and we run F1. It might be neat to try the 12th scale cars outside. In one entry the Desert Rat preferred buggy grip for traction compound. Is that the preferred choice? Thanks and happy holidays.

"I was curious about what tires the 12th scale guys are running on the asphalt track" - We have a track tire rule, we run BSR tires, Spec Purple stripe fronts, Rears, with optional Pink or Double Pink Rears as well.

"..buggy grip for traction compound. Is that the preferred choice?" - We have an open sauce policy, but many use Paragon, either FX II (least aggressive), Special FX (rubber tire - Most aggressive), and of course Ground Effects (very good, well rounded for most surfaces/compounds).

Thanks for your help. It appears the on road racers and off road racers have a great facility. I wish I could get out there this winter, but it's not going to happen.
