I'm currently planning to be out this Saturday with my 1/12 scale. I'm pretty sure my brother is also game, and maybe a few others as well.

Cant wait to watch Cactus. Its always some close racing at that event. Going to be interesting to see how the whole deal works out at the indoor facility.

Stopped by SRS tonight as I am really excited to get back into touring car and wanted to see the track and the turn out. I can say that a lot of what has been said thus far is non sense. I was not driving but watched from the drivers stand. The grip for rubber tire and TC was high. The track was clean and looked prepped for racing. I looked at a car's tires after a run and wear seemed not to be an issue. I watched from several spots on the stand and the columns are not really an issue either. I would not say it is ideal but honestly I've raced on tracks with much worse blind spots. I would imagine on a non race day the track would be dusty and grip may be low. But anyone that has ever u\run outdoor on road knows race day grip is completely different than non race day. The only issue I see is that there was a total of 3 cars when I was there. I would have to assume this is due to the night they have selected to race. The racers at Gilbert have raced there for years and are very loyal. Running on the same night is a mistake. If SRS ran on another night, say Friday, more racers would show up. In fact, I have been told by a few that I have talked to they would if it did not compete with Gilbert. Bottom line is this... when prepped for racing grip for rubber tire is high. The columns are not an issue. They just need to run on a night that is not competing with the only other on road track in town.

Or maybe the moderators saw all the juvenile foul language and pulled the plug....either way, if the skin is that thin they have bigger issues. If they really want honest feedback from people that have actually run a car on the track they wouldn't be deleting posts that hint of negativity, even when it's intended to be constructive.
Can't disagree with your assessment for the low turn-out, and I don't see the serious Hobby Town Gilbert racers attending SRS races on a Saturday anytime soon. Even if they did change their race day they are not going to draw many racers from Gilbert.....for other reasons I won't get into now.
Lastly, if you didn't drive on the track your review seems a bit shy of credibility (no offense intended), it's like giving a movie review when all you saw was the trailer. Ask yourself if you would take someones word if they hadn't experienced it for themselves, then you'll understand why my opinion differs from your opinion of the 2 columns on the north end (left of the drivers stand).
They did things right, they can improve on others, I understand it's a work in progress, and I wish them success.

you guys were offered a track that is not a crappy parking lot. do with it what you will. dont show up and it will go away. SRS put an effort in for you guys, now it is up to you. I live in gilbert and I would rather drive to SRS than ever drive in a parking lot. But that is me.

If SRS really wanted to kick-off their on-road track with a bang they wouldn't have their current schedule. Competing with a long established track by racing on Saturday was far from the best choice. So, as far as choices go we all have one to make. SRS seems to have made theirs, everyone else will make theirs.
'Effort' is a wonderful thing when it's combined with a viable plan to attract racers. Just because someone built a track doesn't automatically mean racers will come.
I suggest that the powers-that-be to let the commentary flow and let the people decide for themselves, based on their own experiences.

I tried to be kind in my comments, but since you decided to categorize parking lot racing as 'crappy' I can only guess that you've never been to HTG for a race. It's not all about the track, it includes the quality of the racing too...and HTG has that. A person can have the best track around but if the scheduling conflicts with other long established tracks nobody should expect people to flock to the 'new' track.

I dont have a dog in this fight as I'm on my way out of the hobby, but I will say this;
Hobbytown Gilbert SUCKS. The kids they have working there are clueless MORONS. There is ONE kid who works there who races offroad who I will say is alright, I believe his name is Alex, but the rest of them are complete idiots--when it comes to r/c related stuff anyway. Totally clueless and unwilling to help or help themselves.
Racing around a few dots in a parking lot SUCKS. If someone built a serious on road track near HTG, they would lose the majority of their "loyal customers".
Flat out, HTG SUCKS. You can cheer them on all you want, like i said, I dont have a dog in this fight, just stating my experience.
Also, I didn't even think twice about skipping over HTG when the new on road track came in at SRS and I bought an onroad vehicle as was planning on driving 60 miles to SRS vs the 25 to HTG, thats how much better SRS and their track is.
