SRS - Scottsdale The un-official racers thread
#8551

Wow what an event!! I had a blast at my first cactus!

A special thanks needs to be given to the SRS crew. Lucas, CJ, Ricky, Thomas, Terrible Joe Lacey, Adam, and everyone else who spent weeks preparing. The event was run very professionally with a very polished setup and race program. The track was super dialed. I love every layout SRS puts in, but the traction just added to the fun. The racers from the SRS crew sacrificed a lot of time they wanted to spend wrenching and practicing so they could take responsibility of the facility to ensure us racers had a memorable experience at cactus.
Scott did an amazing job on the mic and was very fun to listen to! He made novice H mains sound like a Worlds a-main!! Every race was exciting to watch and the could certainly get your adrenaline pumping.
Arizona drivers really represented!! Our local pros performed as expected. Fischer and Lutz both made every A-main with top-3s for both and top-5s for both, Maifield did his thing as always, Spencer Rivkin made A-mains. Tanner Denny made A-mains, Chris Wheeler made A-mains with a top-3!! The A and B main in open was mostly local drivers with everyone driving lights out fast!! Ashe Deering made rc driving look easy taking the Main! Everyone has been dedicated to practicing and putting in the work necessary to drive fast and it's really paid off!
Of course it was awesome to see the out of towners! Many drivers from different states, and drivers from other countries! Most notable was Jorn Neumann who drove stupid fast with every car he put on the track.
Can't wait for Wednesday so I can race toy cars!

As a spectator on Sunday (watched start to finish) I thought everybody did a great job. I was really impressed with the way they got one race off and the next race going. great job guys.

My first cactus is in the books,
Had a blast for sure. The last minute change threw me a little bit of a curve ball in tire selection, and put a hurting in the budget, bit it is what it is. I think maybe the MX compound would have been a better choice for me vs. the X2's I ran. Live and learn.
Well run race program for sure. Scotty does awesome work on the mic. Though he credited the racers for making the program run so smoothly, which is partly true, though I thought he was selling himself a little short, as he played a big enough part in things and how the race program went for the week.
Good to see a number of people that I usually get to see at the DNC. By far the two best events I have traveled to, and well worth doing so, IMHO. I think I'm already planning on making the Cactus again next year. Hit the last outdoor one, have to hit the first indoor one. There's only one of each. LOL.
Thanks to all that helped in making the event what it was and what it's been known for all these years,
Adam, the whole SRS crew, both in the shop and around the track. Those guys busted some serious tails to make sure a lot of things were done and setup so people like this guy could come down for a week and play.
Also enjoyed seeing/meeting a number of racers/families that I might have met before and couldn't put a name to a face or faces, or those I hadn't met until this year.
Joe Lacey, John Watkins, Ashley Peeler (the Ausie duo, who did quite well), Scotty E., Ricky Gaynor, CJ, Humpty, Landon Lewis and family, Ron Schuur, and a host of others that I'm probably forgetting.
Looking to see all again next year.

As a common courtesy to other racers I want to share that SRS no longer races on Wed, they have moved to Thurs until they get into the new location. It took me a total of 30 seconds to share this info, confused why it hasn't been posted especially since it would give this thread a bump.

DONT KNOW IF ITS ON HERE OR NOT, BUT IS THERE GONNA BE AN ON-ROAD TRACK AT THE NEW PLACE?
GUESS NOT, THX FOR TIMELY RESPONSE

Last night was probably the most fun night of racing I've had hands down! The track is super dialed. The track is now run in reverse and the flow is just awesome.

I ran m3 compound and it lasted me the whole night but the tires were definitely done at the end. The track is not nearly as abrasive as it was at cactus. You need to use a tire with pins, BK bar style tires will make you loose
