Easy, ones a 13.5 and the other is a 17.5. 13.5 has less wire and is faster. When you buy a motor you don't need to look at kv ratings.

You can gear a low kv 17.5 to outperform a high kv 17.5. Thus why kv ratings dont matter. You need to know how to gear and time your 17.5 to get the most performance. Dont you think you would see the trinity d3.5 maxzilla win everything if kv's mattered, its rated at 3700kv. I see alot more Reedy's (2300kv), Schuur Speed's, Orion's...not so much trinity stuff, at least out on this side of the country.

I guess I don't understand why designate a 17.5 or 13.5 race if the output of the motors is the same. Like you said, in the end you have to gear it for your car, track, and driving style. To me it seems like there should be two classes; mod and blinky ( 13.5t or 17.5t).

It should be blinky and mod, I agree. The main stock motor recognized by roar and numerous other states is the 17.5. You are putting too much emphasis on kv, just look at the turns and pick a motor based on results, popularity, what is known to work better on your track, parts support, stuff like that.

Racing tonight 12-12-12 Cash Payout! 7pm Start!

$5 of each entry will go to a class purse. Winner take all! Hobby bucks will still go out to 2nd and 3rd place!

Example 10 entries in 13.5 Buggy = $50.00 to the winner!

That's pretty cool, for the fast guys. If you race 2 classes, twice a week, that gets pretty costly. I would like to see lower entry fees. Everyone could use that this time of year. Just my .02

I had a good time racing tonight, and met some cool new people.

Here was the 13.5 Expert Buggy race from tonight:

Well Mother Nature has done it again last night.

Sorry but there will be no "Friday Night Lights" Off-road practice tonight (12/14).
Off-road track is being pumped and we will wait and see from there.

Oval track had a bit of water in the center but most of that is gone now.
Things are looking good there for the Oval States depending on future rain fall.

Stay tuned for more updates!!!

Man, screw the rain! I'm really hoping the track held up last night and we are still racing tonight.
