Hey folks. Newly getting back into this stuff. My old ride was an Kyosho Ultima Buggy back in the late 80's. Well 2 weeks ago I got another Kyosho. This time it's an Ultima SC. It's bone stock except for shock oil. It comes w/a "G20" which I assume is a 20 turn brushed motor. I'm running 7.4v Lipo battery, 5000mah 40c.

Could you guys point me in the direction of what class that would put me in?

Thanks ahead of time for your response.

PS, if I went brushless, which would also entail a new speed control, would I simply enter the whichever class (13.5 turns etc..) my new motor put me in?

Again, thanks for answering the noob's questions...

what ya got now will land you in either the novice class, if there is one. or you will run with the 17.5's. you could always run a bigger class then what motor you have but your not gonna run a bigger motor in a small class.. 17.5 or 13.5 will put you in their respective class. anything larger usually lands you in mod class.

Go up to a 23 to start. Monitor your temps, but you should be more than safe with that

There is no 17.5 sc class at SRS, so you could start in novice or just wing it and run pro-lite. 13.5 is the pro-lite motor. Pro2 which is pretty much non-existent now is unlimited motor. When I started racing SRS there was only Pro2 SC - try keeping up in a brushed slash. Not.
Oh, get some tires too.

Default 17.5 buggy class

Does it look like a 17.5 buggy class would be viable at SRS? The Summer Series has that as an option.

Just wondering.

Thanks

I just got back from running some practice at SRS... Cool guys!

I had a lot of fun till I went nose first into the bricks and broke my bulkhead... MY BAD! Hopefully I'll work the NOOB out of my driving soon.

Might try to make the event this evening if I can get it repaired.
