I know this is an old and LONG thread, but I have a question about SRS.

I am going to buy an SC10 kit when the new version comes out, and will want to race in the most beginner/stock class available.

I'm reading the PDF file on the SRS website and am really confused about what I'm supposed to run?

Can someone please give me a breakdown of the classes and the NOOB guys running SC10 what speed motor they are allowed to run?

I want to go brushless and lipoly and could also use some advise on ESC MOTOR and BATTERIES.

Basically, for those who race SC10's at SRS in the most basic of classes, what speed brushless motor is most popular and what ESC and batteries are guys running?

A billion thanks in advance.

I started with a RTR SC10 and ran it till the speedo went bye bye. The majority of the guys are running 10.5 brushless but I ran 13.5 for the longest and was not that far off. If you are new you can run novice with the RTR and just have fun or up grade to 10.5 or 13.5 and have fun too.
LRP SPX with Novak ballistic 10.5 or 13.5 and Reedy or Thunder Power 2s lipo.

So i can run either a 10.5 or a 13.5 brushless in the 'rookie' class? For a beginner with SC10 will i race against other sc10's? thx for the reply, btw.

You can run either 10.5 or 13.5, . I would leave it stock for now and buy a transponder, especially if your going to race. Some tracks have loaners, but having your own is much less of a headache. Learn how to drive the truck stock, play with the set-up a little then as your skills improve, increase the power.

There is always option 2 -- just add a 10.5, a transponder and pin it....

im still confused......

im not a pro.. im a total beginner, wanting to race against other beginners who will be driving SC10's.

do i need a 17.5T motor and compatible ESC?

what about battery packs.. will a 2400mah 7.2v 2s lipo be ok? can i use a basic cheapie battery? i just wanna have fun.

the novice class is a "run what ya brung" class. They will let you run your SC10 in that class.. as for the motor limit.. i believe novice is 13.5 or slower, but you may want to clarify with Keoni.

There is typically not two classes of "Short course" truck on club nights, just the one big Pro2 class which is 10.5 motors and drivers of "all" skill levels. You can start out in novice running against other similar skilled drivers, although they may not all be SC10s, some might be buggies, trucks, or 4wd buggies.

SRS : 480 945 2186. Call Keoni, its your best bet on a sure clarification on the motor restriction for novice.
