Just completed my move from SoCal to Madison. I can't wait to run this track.

Welcome to Alabama!
I've raced with some guys from SoCal in years past and it's always been top notch.
One of the "Big Things" we're doing this year is a statewide points series with the first race being in February at The Warehouse Raceway in Birmingham. If you want more details about the series races and tracks check out the Facebook group. If you don't do Facebook, let me know and I'll get the info to you.
Our RC3 FB group is very active with over 250 members. It's probably the best way to stay up to speed on things.
Look forward to seeing you at the track.

Make sure to check out the website and event calendar. We have added a track work day February 15th and changed the 3rd Annual Rocket City Challenge to a single day event August 2nd.

Is the offroad track going to be open on July 4th? We will be at my mom's house in Huntsville for the holiday and I'd like to get a little practice with my buggy and truggy. Just recently found out you guys are only 15 minutes away from their place.
Wish I could run with you guys on July 5th but there's just no way I can spend that much time away from the family.

Sure, the track has no fence so you can come out and drive on it any time. If it is very wet or muddy, we ask that you not run on it so as to prevent ruts. If it is dry, you should wet it using the hose in the middle of the track (the water is usually on). You'll get much better grip when the clay is damp.

The weather is looking great for this weekend so I expect we'll have a good turn out for the race.

What tires work well on y'all's track and how is tire wear

As for tires, we have new red clay on the track now, but there are still some corners with the older tan clay (a little sandy, but still sticky). Nobody has run on the new red clay yet so it's hard to say what will work. I'm pretty sure Jconcepts Goosebumps will work since we tend to keep the track wet when we race. Some folks use AKA Cityblocks or Proline Blockades. If the track develops a groove, then a smaller pin like a double dee, holeshot, or sniper might work better.
