So , like the thread title says , I decided to see just how much of a 1/10 no prep car you can print and maintain performance to a certain extent.. I decided to make it "traxxas" based as there were a ton of free STL's for the traxxas bandit/ rustler/slash.. Some were Correct , some needed some help, The purchased components for the roller build are as follows ,
pro-line 85 camaro body, $45
some no prep R tires , $25
a set of 4 shocks for the slash off amazon, $17
1 pr of complete bandit driveshafts, $26
and a 3 gear crawler transmission with slipper off amazon.. $20
I had all the bearings for the axles in my box of stuff,
I also had all the 3,4, and 5 mm hardware on hand.
and about a half spool of filament total $10

Oh for sure man!! I was expecting maybe a broken body post or mount at least as I walked up on it but was nicely surprised to see zero broken stuff.. 1 cool thing to note about the printed wheels is they run more true and round than any purchased wheel I have ever bought.. You can free rev the car with zero wheel hop issues from being out of round/balance.. This is all on the quest to find the "limit" .. Printing out of PLA+ seems to be acceptable for things like this where you arent hitting jumps etc.. 'Low Impact R/C' if you will .. My next project to test is going to be to print out a 1/10 buggy for offroad use and see what it will withstand using various materials.. I am in the process of upgrading one of my enders to print some more durable things like nylons and polycarbonates.. Just got a sheet of 1/8 " tuffak polycarbonate to build my enclosure out of , along with a vent and carbon filter system.. Blame 5 star hobbies.. when I saw that they were 3d printing R suspension arms for their kits from Nylon/CF it inspired me to see exactly how far things can be taken.. LOL

So Iv have been beating the snot out of the pink camaro , so far I have broken a printed front bulkhead , but that was on me, I jammed too long of bolt in a blind hole and caused a split at the layer line. Since I replaced that no issues.. The sensorless system has kind of topped out with the batteries I have (5000, 25c) so I ordered up some 6500 120c batteries. My sensored system will also be here within the next couple days , so I kind of decided that for the cost I would just build a 2nd chassis for the sensored system.. So here is where I am on build # 2.. It will be running a 4.5 /120a esc .. Still deciding which body to run on it.. leaning toward the corvette shell..

As I have been building the 2nd chassis for my son I have also been tinkering toward the actual intended direction of this project. A 4 link , MOA style rear end .. For right now I decided to use a proven drive train as I start tinkering with the 4 link so I am printing a rear end that will use the metal gear transmission I designed the previous build around in a configuration with static arms and camber links to essentially make a solid axle out of it as easily as possible with the current pieces. I decided on running the battery perpendicular across the chassis as that configuration keeps the weight bias toward the rear since the motor and trans weight are now unsprung weight as part of the rear axle. I have the 4 link "rear pod" printing out now as I redesign the rear main chassis half.. I intend on keeping the front portion pretty much as I have used in the first build.. Traxxas bandit based.

God I love 3d printers .. from drawing to prototype overnight.. BTW using up some partial spools , so this first couple drafts are going to be rainbow chassis.. Also including a short vid showing rear end articulation.

Building another bandit based car .. here are all the printed parts. This build will be the final fit for all the parts , so I should be posting the files in a couple weeks for those that want to print one up..

Getting ready to drop all the files to this build on my cults page. It will require either a stock traxxas transmission , or this Injora transmission from amazon .
https://www.amazon.com/INJORA-Comple...13&sr=8-1&th=1
I have built 3 of these now using the Injora tranns.. No issues yet with any of them..
The files for the body mounts and the front bumper are specifically for the Proline IROC body , so if you are going to run a different shell those may require some STL modding for your purposes.. and yeah these files will be FREE.
of course you will need all the hardware , and a set of shocks for the traxxas slash/bandit.

and as promised guys here are the FREE files for this build!! The bumper and body posts are specific to the pro-line camaro body , so those will need to be changed for other bodies.. You will need a traxxas transmission and drive shafts from the bandit, or I also designed an adapter bulkhead so you can use this $20 Injora all metal gear trans from amazon.. It is a solid spool , so it goes straight reall well..LOL Been running them in both my cars now , they been holding up to a 5900kv 4 pole and a 4.5 t sensored 2 pole systems with no failures from either the slipper or gear train..
