Due to the limited time frame Abt allows for the race, and an already full day of racing, we are unable to add F1 to this years event. We had a lot of people asking for Mod Touring this year so we swapped Mini for Mod. If anything changes, we will keep everyone posted.

What would you guys rather have? F1 or Mod?

Joey,

I don't know that I would keep something else out to hold a spot for mod. We mod drivers can be the ficklest of groups. we had a pretty good group going last year, but I don't know how good it would be this year. You will get more racers for F1 than mod in any event.

The upside to mod is it's a spectacle for spectators (more so that F1). You do want a class with a wow factor. That said, F1 has better scale looks appeal.

Brian, I totally agree, I'm just not sure we can get enough guys to show up. I'll make some calls. In the meantime....

Mod drivers - if you're out there who can commit?

As much as I enjoyed this race the last 2 years and would love to attend this year (and run Mod Touring), I'm sure I'll be out racing FPV quadcopters somewhere instead. I'll be posting trance-dubbed videos of epic flights to YouTube soon.

... and we all know Josh is too much of a grumpy-pants to attend anything that remotely sounds like fun. So, scratch his name from the list. Uncle Skip might show up just to b*tch about how loud the music is. Enjoy!

F1-pushmobiles is likely a better option for attendance.

F1 rubber or foam?
102,103,104 cars
Or other brands?
21.5 or 25.5 motor

I'm pretty sure I can't make this event, but if you do F1, this is what pretty much every race in the country is doing:
Rubber tire
190mm
2s lipo
any f1 chassis

25.5 is the direction everything is going. Unless this is going to be a giant layout, that is more than enough motor. 21.5 or 25.5, it will still be fun, and spectators will instantly recognize F1/"indy" cars.

Of course, you can just open it up to foam, 200mm cars, or run what you brung f1. I'm sure it will still be a lot of fun.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I really appreciate it! I will make a final decision on wether F1 or Mod Touring will be apart of this years event within the next week or so. I'd still like to here a few more opinions on the matter.

On another note, we just got word that Sony will become a title sponsor for the event and will be on hand to raffle off a number of great prizes including boomboxes, Bluetooth headphones and a grand price of a big screen 4K Ultra High Definition TV!

Stay posted for more info!

Nice job on all the work you're doing. I was amazed by all the prizes you had last year.

Just my 2 cent's... Unless you have a larger section of parking lot, I think running an F1 class is a better choice. A little less dangerous for the spectators.

Thanks Mooby! We will hopefully have more big ticket items to raffle off this year. Still reaching out to the R/C companies for prizes for the racers raffle.

The track will be in the same area as last year, we may try to widen it more if Mod is included to help show off their speed a little more. Safety is our first concern, so we will have a designated specator areas near the lower speed areas of the track. The racers pits will line the higher speed portions of the track like last year. Only racers and event staff will be permitted in the pits. I'm trying to get a grand stand donated from the neighboring park district for the designated viewing areas.
