Default NIROCC, SSRCCC....livin' in the past!

Lets see how old some of you are........

Anybody race in NIROCC? (Northern Illinois Radio Operated Car Club)
SSRCCC? (South Suburban Radio Control Car Club)
JOROCC? (Joliet Off Road Operated Car Club)

Metrofast? Radio Active? Thunderdome? Midwest?

Any of the shopping mall races?

The track at the Suzuki shop in Aurora?

Bill Jacobs Chevy in Joliet on Friday nights? (Moody Sprint cars with vaccuformed bodies)

Anybody race with a resistor? (long before ESC's)

SCR batteries? Novak servos?

NIROCC was nice, utilized the "Heart of America" format.
Kinda low key racing.

SSRCCC was the opposite.....run by racers that wanted to race. 4 or 5-8 minute qualifiers and the mains.

Metrofast......fast carpet oval racing.

Thunderdome......FAST dirt oval that broke things!

Bill Jacobs......oval racing on concrete sliding around with chassis that were, well, rather vintage. Capping hard tires with inner tubes and vacuum cleaner belts. Lotsa fun!

Don, Todd, Jim Dieter....JORROC was a mixed breed of racers.

Kinda find some photos of that here.............

Used to drive 3 hrs to get to NIROCC races.

Yes, my first 1/12 car was a 12i with a resistor esc. Ran with SC's - even before SCR's.

Default Yep

First car was an RC10 gold pan with resistor. Charger was a dial with 15 minute timer. Futaba Magnum Jr was the hot radio (that I was too poor to afford.). Next car was a 10th scale Parma pan car and ran oval indoors in the winter. Every cent of my paper route $$ went into those cars.

Thanks for the memories.
