Default Nitro onroad track near Chicago downtown?

Hi. I'm a racer from CA. I'm planning to visit Chicago downtown for 2 weeks in May and looking for onroad racetrack that's allowed 1/10 and/or 1/8 nitro. If there isn't any track for nitro, I can bring my T3/S411 eryx alternatively so please advise. Thanks,

Not sure whats going on as far as nitro goes....but Leisure Hours Raceway is one of the best asphalt tracks in the nation. The On-Road Nats were held here last summer. Plenty of You-Tube videos to check out. I'd say your safer with the electric stuff. See you then dude!

A visit to LHR is always fun but pull up google maps. It's not exactly near downtown Chicago. Definitely worth the trek if you have time.

Yeah I found it pretty far but I'm used to driving quite far living in CA where nobody uses pub transportation.
I might have a bunch of time or no time at all depending on when my baby decides to see the world

That is a very false statement. Leisure Hours welcomes all nitro, onroad and offroad. Where do you get this information.

If you are apart of any discussion that involves Leisure and "Nitro", you essentially get a very negative response among the regulars. I have no doubt the owners have no problem with it, we just have to show up and race. Now, when the schedule conflicts for both the Midwest Nitro Series "Offroad" and Midwest series "On road", came from leisure, i thought it was bogus as well. Almost favoring 100% Electric. I will put a honest effort to go, but it seems like the Nitro group lost alot of faith with Liesure...

Bring them out! And we will see! Note: Byrons will be big, but i have my money on all nitro classes being dead after...

LOL I'm glad you guys are heated up discussing classes because it proves that there are avid fans there!! I just talked to the guy at Leisure and he was hesitant but he basically says it'd be safe to bring electric cars. I didn't know what that exactly meant because his saying was not clear and certain. But now I know most of the local boys are not very happy about nitro cars practicing together, probably worried about their cars being destroyed by nitros in case there's an accident. I know all this because our track had the same problem and we ended up dividing practice session. I think Leisure has to do the same so they can accommodate nitro people too.
I think I'll just bring my Serpent S411 cuz I can only bring so much in my bag LOL. I don't want any chance to be kicked out by the local boys with my NT1 when I've flown 2k miles from home LOL
Thank you guys!

LHR will let you run NITRO TC...however, if you expect any turn out on Nitro TC when you are visiting, your chance is slim....but like other said, you can definitely practice there and you can race with the EP...don't expect a race there, but you can be lucky to have a class to race with around 4-5 nitro TC.

Lets just say the turn out of Nitro TC is not as high as the EP TC...or the NITRO GT.

However, it is a very WISE CHOICE of yours that you decide to run some RC on your FIRST KID and driving at least 1 hour away from downtown Chicago...I remember the 2 weeks before and after my 1st born, my position and my mind are...Baby, wife, baby wife, baby, wife, baby, diaper, formula, wife want to eat White Castle at 3am when outside was -25* on year 2003 on new years eve...

What are you saying dude? If this is sarcasm, mind your own business. If you were making retrospective view, I'll take it. I don't need to explain my logic to you. But I know that much that I may not be able to go there but am just planning for a possible past time. Remember when you write something online, it may convey a message that you didn't intend to. But if you're just making a nostalgic comment, I'll gladly take it.

WOW....ok, I will shut up now. Have fun in Chicago....and I will mind my own business.

I am simply saying WHAT I DID when i had my 1st born and amazed about that you could have time to do RC at this period....GOOD LUCK to you and good luck to your 1 hour drive each way from Chicago to Joliet only if with NO TRAFFIC on 65mph (+10mph overdrive) highway or tollway. I really don't think you understand that 1 hour drive EACH WAY means at that period of time....I thought traffic sucks in California and you should know about that. But of course you know otherwise you would not telling me to mind my own business but you actually going on Rctech to ask other people opinion about a RC Nitro Track in DOWNTOWN CHICAGO AREA...........

Well if you keep staying cool like that, I don't know what to say man. I may have overreacted but it sounded like "Wow you must have not cared about your FIRST BORN very much. What a dad you are!". And I didn't like it not only because it's only my biz, but also because that is not true. I'm dying to see my baby in this world. And I asked you what you meant because I was not clear of what you said. Well if you meant well, I will take it well.
