I wondered the same. Thanks to Google, it's carpet in Urbana, IL. Same pictures as noted in another carpet track thread.

Things are almost ready. Having a track close to home for me will be a luxury I haven't had in a long time. Easy drive for those of you in Chicago, Indy, St. Louis or elsewhere. Champaign/Urbana is at the intersection of hwy 57 and 74.

I wonder which lap counting system they will have, AMB or iLap?

72'x32' is a little on the tight side for SCT and even WGT but should be fun for Mini, 1/12 and 1/18 on-road scales.

Still working out classes but the standards will be offered. VTA, 17.5 sedan, 1/12 for road, SCT, stadium truck for off road, Legends, etc for oval.

AMB with RC Scoring Pro. The track is a good size for 17.5 classes. It's bigger and smoother than the track you've been racing on.

It would be nice to get a WGT class going. Those are really sweet racing machines.

I guess it's a bit longer by 7 feet but narrower by about 10 feet. However, even a smaller track is better than no track and closer too.

It is not a small track, not by any stretch. I am looking forward to running on the rug again!

Now you're talking.

I'm just glad that a track is opening closer and I wish they would support WGT. It's fast, fun and costs less than TC at the top level.

I also hope that it will be Paragon free, that stuff gives a lot of people headaches.

IF WGT gets a turnout, it could be considered. (not my decision, I have nothing to do with running the place) There has been interested implied in F1 also, so it's kind of a wait and see game on those two.

SXT only for traction compound, no smell and it works. Plenty of bottles for sale at the track.
