TCS Race '09 @ Trackside Hobbies March 28+29

I agree with Buck...no matter what you do with RPM limits, car spec...the fast guys will always rise to the top of the time sheets.
It would be interesting to try this:
1) Everyone that made the A main in a silver can class at last years TCS gets a 12,000 RPM motor limit.
2) Anyone who did not make the A main in a silver can class gets a 14,000 RPM motor limit
I would bet the value of the car that 80% or more of last years A main qualifiers would make the A again this year.
Let's just go race!

Ill be there running GT2 and F1. I am a Red Dot customer( just got the last one in the mail today, Thanks Doc) and I hope that no limit is what we are running to, not just
because i have already spent my money, but because there is already a certain level of "spec" to TCS. While im not about unlimited budgets and 1 run tires, i think that and have always thought that there should be some inginuity allowed. Doc has the silver cans down to a science, and like he said, it is more costly to gear to the moon and use up 3 or more motors in a weekend than it is to buy 1 of his, gear it right, and use it for the whole weekend. The other factor is that the motor limit was put in place for Aliso because of the long straight and fairly open layout. Trackside is a good sized track, but you will only be able to get up so much steam before you have to turn. Even an F1 car on foams has a grip limit. If the layout is similar to the way its been the last few years, RPM wont matter anyways, because it will be a matter of how quick you can get from corner to corner in the infield.

See what happens when you don't race as much as you used to???
No problem Doc! I read that statement incompletely.
http://www.tamiyausa.com/tcs/rules.php#
#25 in general rules says @ certain races probably TBD be track owners. I suspect the following will be our rule:
The norm in the past is that if your silver can is abnormally fast,(as fast as a stock motor+), we would tech it(rip it apart) and if caught cheating, you were banished from the race. If it was legal, we would provide a new one, or the person(s) making the 'cheating' claim would provide one.
The fast will always be fast. Experience and practice = fast.
Steve! We will be putting our Big order in soon. We will have parts but may not be as big as in the past. We cannot afford to have fancy Tamiya hop ups on the wall after the TCS race. We will have the basics for the majority of the POPULAR cars. So, NO, we won't have anything for the 414 or TA04 unless they are used on a current model. We do have some old stock that may end up in a discount box for the weekend.
As far as the tires go, we will have type A's but the B3's have never been a tire that worked well here. I would advise that if you would want some , to order them before you get here.
If there is any thing special any one would like us to order, let me or the track know within the next week or so and we will get it here, tagged for you and put aside. Everything else will be first come, first served.

Mike,
Thanks for the info about Friday. $10 is no problem for a fee, will you have type A and B3 and wheels available for sale on Friday? I am interested in a few sets of each. Also 2007 NSX IFS Body? Hope you guys have a good stock of Tamiya TA05 and TB03 and F103 Hop UPs that weekend for sale??
Looking forward to trading some paint with you "Cheese Heads" will Snack Side and then Crap Side be available? I hear you guys have some private rooms in the dungeon "VIP Pit ROOM OF DOOM"
I am really concentrating on GT3 this year, I have put a lot of testing miles on my TA05 IFS and TB03. The TB03 is really dialed on carpet! Bruce and I stayed out in Aliso Viejo the weekend of the TCS and did get some testing on Sunday at the track in between the rain showers. My spin on the 13,000 rpm rule is that it is really up to the host race director to make the decision as per TCS rules if this rule will be implemented? I do feel guys like Doc and Bruce and Myself have years of tuning these Silver Cans and frankly I have some Motors that get very close to the 20,000 rpm figure and the 13,000 rule is good because it takes those motors out of the equation? I believe the Minis benefit from the higher rpm than the GT3 cars do? Bruce and will be attending the Frederick, MD TCS on 3/15/09.
Looking forward to race @ Trackside, Scotty and you guys do such a great job putting on the race. Will we be doing 3 or 4 rounds of Qual's and triple A mains??
Steve.

Was wondering if you are running a Front One way in your TB03 for GT3?
