Outback RC Raceway

It was also a long way down for self-marshalling. I will have to figure out where it should go and how much more carpentry/fabrication work would be in store for it. I am guessing that this year (2009), I would not budget to buy it and to pimp it out.

Ha! Ha! Bob said PIMP!!!!!! I think you're starting to "loosen" up Bob! You must be taking Kenji's advice.
I actually like the current placement of the drivers stand-very smart!
The track layout reminds me of Superman!
Remember to keep it simple and you can expand your ideas when you get a dedicated group of racers to come on a regular basis.
You may have to change the name of the track to "Money Pit" if you were to execute all of your ideas!

I'm still plenty square. There are certain places that my wife does not want the cargo container to go. Really, I want the container because I think it is an economical shed for storing tools, furniture, and other goods -- the use as a drivers stand is kind of like a possible bonus. She prefers it go into the woods.
Thanks for mentioning that you like where the drivers stand is -- it is kind of different. Different is always risky.

Ha ha ha. I proposed a slightly different idea. I asked if I could paint fake windows, doors, and other trim to make it look like a nice shed. It might work, except for all the railing on top. Of course it is really cool when you build in an announcer booth and a roof for the drivers.

Hope to make it out to Outback this summer!
Question though- will there be regular (truck, buggy, 4wd) classes during the RC Pro NCCS Club Races?
Thanks!

Hi. This is Jim Ian, right?
Yes, the NCCS club races "must" be regular club races, so we will have all the classes like normal, except that those days will have official reults being collected for the spec Slash class. Of cource on the non-NCCS days, we can still have spec Slash.
When I saw that cargo container in the pictures mentioned above, I thought it was pretty cool, but then you realize how much more there is to buy and build even after you come up with the container. It better handle steady 50mph winds with gusts, too.

Excellent, as a few of the NCCS days work well in my schedule!
Yeah, I can see how that cargo might be costly.... oh well, it's still cool to look at (even if it cost a ton!)

Hey, that would be great to have a hand, especially shaping jumps.
I was out this evening digging a couple of post holes for a hose-reel mount. There was a pinch of frost in the ground from 2-4 inches down, but after that it was clear digging (nice brown clay just a foot or so down there). Perfect working weather. I am going out tomorrow to pull up last year's pipes and mark off the new track boundaries and lanes.
Probably still a bit soft for my neighbor to bring over his bobcat, but I will mention as soon as that happens.
I think we will be on time, no problem.
