I say this because someone like Mike could enter 4 classes, have someone marshall for him and be on time for each race so why should he be "punished" because of some other racer.
If someone else had an airplane and Bob had a way to score them, I bet Mike would have entered 4 classes on Sunday!!
And if I had an 1/8th scale and a rally car and a slash I would have entered 7 races! It's all about battery and charger management!
Someone else would have had to water the track though. That would be a bit much!
Thanks for the track watering Mike, and Mr. Angel, and TousTim. It should only get easier once the 3 hose stations get in place, hopefully not so much effort to manage the long hose.
There is a skecth of a plan floating around right now. Feel free to strike it down or improve it before it materializes:
1) Race director tries best to put together racers card for the day and meets with racers at drivers meeting to discuss the plan.
2) A minimum number of cars to make a class will be established. Ideally it will be equal to the number of marshals required to cover the track. At the Outback, that number might be 5 or 6, TBD. Any classes that failed to reach the minimum number, we will see if they can be attached to another class or we will pool all of them into the open class (not to punish them, but to allow every opportunity to see that a guest can run their car). If the open class has fewer than the minimum drivers, we will figure out if we should take the open class out of the marshalling cycle or whatnot.
3) Drivers will be asked to set their cars/radios onto a shelf at the drivers stand and head straight out to marshall.
4) The drivers for the next race will be asked to be standing at the drivers stand as the race before them is finishing up. Maybe a shelf for their convenience, too.
5) Marshals will be numbered (car 1 is marshal 1) and will go to numbered buckets. If there is a desire for someone to marshal at a different bucket, just say so at registration and we'll move you around. Buckets will be placed by the Layout Director in order of importance to be manned. Director will take attendance to spot any missing marshals. As long as somebody is at the bucket (a replacement volunteer, whatever), it is OK. We'll check to make sure someone just forgot to go to the correct bucket. If a bucket is unstaffed 10 seconds before the start of the next race, the director will call a delay and create a penalty for the missing assigned marshal and call for a volunteer. Some Director discretion is to be used of course.
6) The Penalty: What, a penalty? Often, you are docked a lap from your fastest qualifier. This basically ruins a qualifying run for you. Maybe that is not much of a penalty at the Outback because maybe you will make the "A" anyway or maybe you aren't worried about the scoring. So here is the "new" idea: missing a marshal spot will cause that marshal to sit out his next heat. There are some details to work out such as what if the next heat is a main, or what if the racer is multi-class, which heat is the "next" heat. The idea is that the penalty is felt equally be those who are concerned about scoring and those who are not.
EDIT: Notice there is no limit to how many classes a racer can be in.

I noticed many air compressors in use on the last race day. I am sure they are handy for blowing sandy diry out of your chassis. What are the thoughts on having some form of communal air compressor? Are they easy to Share? Would you rather have your own? Would you want to walk over to a communal air tank, sit your car on a wire shelf and blow dirt out of it there? We did trip a circuit once on Sunday. Don't know if it was aircompressors or not, but the thought came to mind. How many gallons of air at what PSI would racers use in a day -- for example if a 5 gallon 100psi tank is enought for everybody, I could get a tank for what, $25, fill it with my compressor and sit it out for everyone's use without having to be plugged in.

I don't think a 5 gallon tank would last very long. ( in fact I know it wouldn't
be enough). Having one compressor is fine, but I don't think a tank is enough. Secondly Note to self-- Don't let the wet drit sit overnight it turns to concrete. Cleaning the slash was a pain.( maybe alittle less water for the slashs Ha Ha).

Really. Do you have to moisten the outback dirt to get it off the vehicle again. It almost falls right off when it is moist, no. Don't worry, I'm sure once I install the mega-pump, the global climate changes and weather patterns will bring cool days and heavy rains, and I will never need to use it. It's the same way I get overtime at work -- I just plan a vacation and, what do you know, I am asked to work overtime on those same days.
Really, a tank would not make it? What do you guys do with those air compressors, PM me if you have to. I can clean off my entire tractor and mower deck and more with a tank of air. I only saw fairly small tanks (actually, you had the biggest tanks I recall). Well, it's a thought for sometime down the road.

Here is what we have for the month going forward. A new track layout is underway. It is already roughed in. Hopefully will be tidy by the weekend. Certainly be in use for the next club race, June 28. Then it will be in effect for the 3rd RC Pro Slash Series race. After that, it probably won't last long.

I would like to ck out the new layout I fixed my B3 but I might sell it to fund my touring car that I have become hooked on. I still have the B44 so I havent compleatly gone on road. I am the guy with the white van 12 A.W.G. electric, I have been going to strictly rc to race on road you are much closer but like I said I am enjoying the O.R touring car scene. I hope to make it out soon.
Also if you need some help with the breaker blowing problem I can help 630-935-0132 steve dage. I am licensed and insured and my prices are in most peoples ball park. think about it
That was our first circuit pop. I figured I would last up to maybe 50 racers, but I didn't calculate for air compressors.
I like the StrictlyRC place. It was a good place to race with my son. I like the Vintage TA class in particular, but that is the only on-road I ever tried.

Losi red step pins are good for the truck with pro line "the edge" fronts or losi red directionals. I would suggest bomb 1 foam in the rear tires.
The bomb 1 foams seem to be a little tough to find right now. Do you have any other suggestions? We're not going to put too much motor into the truck, so will the stock foams be good enough?
