I have talked to a representative of TGR Software, the company that makes JLap. They are offering a "competitive upgrade" of the software from now through November 30th. What this means is, we would get a discount on JLap (of us to 50% of its price) equal to what our current software cost.
It is not absolutely certain that we would qualify, but I do know that in order to qualify we would need all of the paperwork from our purchase of Autoscore, meaning a receipt, original documentation and so on. If anybody knows where this stuff is, see if you can find it and let me know and I will get back in touch with them.
I know there is not a Board meeting between now and the 30th, and I know we have not received our demo version of Autoscore for Windows yet either. This upgrade could save the club another $300 or so if it goes through, so if we do choose to go with JLap, we should try and move quickly.
So anyway, if anybody knows where that documentation is, let me know. Thanks!

boy...i would say either paul or george......mayby mike simkins...lets check that out...i wil try and get bb next week ....but from talking to erik the jlap sounds great....
Regarding the competitive upgrade, even DOS versions of any commercial lap
counting software may be used as far you provide its serial number and
priced paid (proof of purchased is required or the club may formally send us
an e-mail stating the ownership of the license). That offer expires by November 30th. 2001.
This is what I received from JLap. So if we can get that information, we can get a helluva deal on the software, as long as we do it before November 30th (this coming Friday).

Shane, I have the original package the Autoscore came in. It was sent COD so I know what we paid but I don't have any proof of purchase. There may be a cancelled check or a receipt with the treasurer's stuff.
The program is Autoscore Pro version 5.17 and includes Re-sort 1.19 and Series record keeper 2.35 The serial number is 388. We paid $620 for everything including the shipping and COD charge.
Maybe you can copy this to an e-mail to TGR to meet the requirements. However the board needs to make the call on what software to buy. The fact that the promised demo hasn't come from B&B tells me their customer service is still poor. I have downloaded the Jlap demo and the only problem I see is getting people use to it. The other problem may be that we would be "different"from the other tracks in our area.
It says we may "formally send them an email stating ownership of the license" whatever that means. I will ask them about it on Monday.
Do we have an email list of board members? I would like to contact people as soon as possible to see if we want to do this. We would be able to purchase the JLap software for half-off, which comes to $368 before any shipping charges.
Considering the fact that we were an inch away from paying $900+ for the Sparc software, I think this is (to say the least) an awesome development.
Thanks!

Hey guys, I don't have any of the old treasurer records here. However, I know there are at least two old boxes of records kept at the track. One of them is in the race directors area, under the cash register. There is a second box, about the same size, but I don't remember seeing it since we moved. Hope this helps.
First, I have the demo version of Autoscore for Windows on the computer at the track. I didn't really have time to play with it, but tomorrow before the program I will run through it with Matt and whoever else is there to see how it looks.
Second, I have received an extension of our JLap code for an extra 10 races if we want to play around with it some more. I have that at the track as well (but I won't enter it into the system until the time comes, just so we don't use up our extra races by accident).
