Default Allen's R/C Annual March Madness Race

After much discussion with Allen and other local racers, we have finally set a date for our annual March race. The race is the second weekend in March, the weekend after the TCS race at Trackside, which is the 10th and the 11th. Same schedule as before, Saturday everything mini and micro, including 1/12 scale, and touring car racing on Sunday. 2 or 3 heats and single A-Mains. Depending on sponsor support, there should be some really nice door prizes and handouts. Sunday touring car racing will be stock/brushless rubber, and stock foam (if there are enough). We are considering running Brushless (13.5) with stock, but perhaps with a weight penalty. After studying the results of the Novak race, this seems feasible. Stock rubber touring cars are what, 3lbs 5.2 ounces? Perhaps a weight penalty for Brushless of 3lbs 5.8 ounces. Either way, it should be a good time on a great little short roadcourse. We have enough pit space for up to 80. Hotel accomodations can be made at Northfield Inn and Suites . Sorry, but we do not have a track discount there, but if enough people get rooms there, I can arrange a group discount. Hope to see a lot of you there! You can check the website for updates at Allens or you can contact me at tommy.dale@ilspri.ang.af.mil or at home racinrc14@yahoo.com.

Mike, let me talk to Matt tonight. I would really like to make the race at Allen's. I have been trying for a couple years and it just hasn't worked out.

Tommy,

Can you send me the micro rules/classes? I will try to make it over for both days. I'll even run rubber tire if I have too!

How many 12th scale do you expect?

Rick

As far as mini/micros go, we have been running the Associated RC18B's with foam tires on the carpet roadcourse with some jumps and whoops thrown in. They are a blast. I have been keeping up with my Losi Mini-T, but just barely. The rules are pretty basic, Associated 370 motor, 6-cell 2/3A batteries (no lipos allowed at Allens for any class at this time) and foam tires. The micro touring car thing has kind of died at our place, so no M-18's or MRS4's at this time.
Tamiya Mini's will run CURRENT Tamiya rules (Yes Steve, RWD against FWD!!) with max pinion printed on chassis.
Rick, who knows how many 1/12 scales will show up. They seem to be hit or miss these days. But if 3 or more show up, we'll run 'em. I know of maybe two locals that would probably race them. Hopefully they are watching this thread.....
Directions to Allens are pretty simple from J'Ville. Take 36/72 to Springpatch, get on I-55 north, get off on the Rt. 29 exit toward Taylorville. Once you get to Rochester, turn left at the second light, make the right-hand jog, and go on out that road (Buckhart Rd.), Allens is exactly 2 miles from the last house on the left in Rochester.
Boomer, glad you are gonna make it (again), remember last year, when you were the only one to make it...................................oh sorry!! hehehehe
Seriously folks, it's a blast at Allens' place. Great facility, nice people, and Barbs' chilli rivals Boomers' (sorry bro, but it does...)!

Tommy,

I'll bring the 12th anyway, who knows. Micro sounds fun, can I run my Vendetta with the 18Bs? I use the Associated motor and put foams on it. Gotta run the company stuff you know.

Stock TC only or does anyone run 19T?

Boomer,

Yeah I'll try to make it. Too bad I don't have a mini to punt you with!!!

Rick,
The Vendetta should be fine, as well as any Kyosho half-eights that might show up. One of our locals has a Vendetta, and although we went with a safer barrier, it still seems pretty fragile. The Associated 18B's take a pretty good beating and seem to be holding up well. 19Turn is iffy. I tried to get them going, but with no luck. I think we'll probably just stick with stock.
