Default LEISURE HOURS RACEWAY 2018

As many know TeamNitro lost the track space at Southland Center. After the president of the MWS, Dwight Smith secured the dates at Leisure Hours for running 2 races there as part of the series, I started talks with Scott about making Leisure our new home track. We reached an agreement whereas TeamNitro will prep the track on race days. Nothing else will change much, if any. We think with our equipment and knowledge, we can have a clean track with a good amount of grip...or better.

We hope that some nitro racers will come back out to race. We also hope that the electric racers will greet us as racers and not some kind of enemy. Most of TN racers have El. cars and will probably be racing them also. We just want a nice place to run like all racers. Race day formats will be worked out when we see what attendance numbers are.

Scott has May 6th as the first open practice day. We hope to see many racers out for this 1st date. Weather permitting, of course. Please start the conversation from here on out in a friendly, positive way. I feel that it's going to be a great, exciting, fun, season! Cya at the track!

Nick, let me be the first to say FU and your stinky gas motored hack machines!

HAHA...I just thought that would be fun so post!

Really, i'm looking forward to this year and hope we get a gaggle of people out to run this year, including nitro. I didn't get out to your last place much but the prep was super nice when I did and I expect that the new sealed LHR track and your prep will be fantastic.

Now, where did I put my driving skills...

When you say "prep the track on race days (Sundays), do you mean EVERY Sunday, or just the two races that will host the MWS ?

Okay, so the way I'm reading this is you will be there every Sunday except for 5 when you travel, is that correct ?

Which brings the next question, What about layout changes ? or will it be the "Byron" layout when you are in town ?

Yes to the first question.

All we are doing is prepping the track. Any layout changes will be Scotts decision.

I think this season nitro will be run every Sunday. The club racers who don't go out of town for the MWS Races will prep the track and I assume, race. Our club is basically Sedan based. But their are several racers who run only Scale or both. I know several of the guys are also readying El sedans to run in different classes. Looking forward to getting started.

In case anyone is interested, the popular electric classes are:

USVTA 25.5 motor, blinky ESC
USGT 21.5 motor, blinky ESC
Stock TC, 17.5 motor, blinky ESC
Mod TC, any motor size, any ESC

Occasionally, F1 shows, but not consistent (25.5 motor, Blinky ESC)

"Blinky" means NO timing advance with the ESC, motor timing advance is okay.

Once the on-road season starts, the "Unofficial Leisure Hours Track Talk" facebook page can be useful for additional information for those so inclined.

Good luck to all of the nitro on road racers this summer at Leisure. Now we need to make sure the other nitro (off road) guys have a great turnout for 1/8 scale nitro buggy and truggy. It was really coming together last summer with decent turnouts, I want off road nitro to continue to be strong this summer.

A lot of hard, honest effort went into getting this World Class track ready for the 2018 season. Their is still a few things to take care of, but the track is looking good! Thanks to all who came out today! The Open Practice tomorrow should be a blast. Doors open at 9am. I'm thinking it will be a rotation between Electric and Nitro in 30 minute intervals. Scott will be there in the AM and will advise what he thinks will work. Hope to see many racers!
