Oklahoma Nitro Club - Yukon, OK
I am pleased to announce the Oklahoma Nitro Club to RC Tech!
We are a group of racers that have raced over the last several years in OKC.
We are moving on past the current situation and putting more control in the
racer's hands.
We have created a Non-Profit organization/club called "Oklahoma Nitro
Club" We are registered with the State of Oklahoma as an official
non-profit club. We are less than one month away from a vote at a
local city that will give us the land that we need to build a new
outdoor rc race track.
We will be signing up members in early January and receiving annual
dues at this time. As a non-profit, ALL proceeds from club
membership, racing entry fees and any other revenue generated will be
required to be used by the club to develop, promote and grow our track.
We will use our startup funds to build the track, driver's stand, pit
lane and purchase a scoring system and loop as we can afford it.
I would like to invite anyone interested to email me directly at
[email protected] for more information or to be added to the club
email list. We will be building as we raise funds so the sooner we
are racing the better... If you have any tools, dirt, or any other
relevant building supplies necessary to build a track, we would
appreciate your consideration.
One way you can help us is simply to post your name and where you are
from here on our thread if you or your racing group would like to come
and race with us at some point in the future. I would like to include
this list in our final presentation to show the city council how many
folks from other areas will come to visit our track.
The track will be located in Taylor Park in Yukon Oklahoma. The park
address is 410 N. 11th Yukon, OK 73099. Approximately 1-1/2 miles
North on Garth Brooks Blvd from I-40.
We will be a ROAR sanctioned track in order to benefit from their
unbeatable insurance program. All racers and pit men will be required
to be roar members in order to participate. We WILL HAVE incentives
to join, like first race free when you join to help offset the ROAR
membership dues if you aren't already a member. You will not be
required to be an Oklahoma Nitro Club member to race. There are other
benefits included with the membership like reduced entry fees for the
year, voting rights for track changes, officers and other club
decisions.
Our plans are to stick to club racing until we raise enough funds to
complete the track in the proper way. We will have larger fund
raising charity races along the way and eventually adding larger
regional races etc as we grow.
Please spread the word, Nitro racing is NOT DEAD in Oklahoma!!!

I'm from the SW side of OKC and that would put a race track right in my back yard! I hope this goes through and will be showing this thread to friends.

I would like to take brief moment to clear something up...
The group Oklahoma Nitro Club has all the respect in the World for
Action RC, Jerry, Ginna, and of course Jerald. I just want to ask that everyone show the same respect to the Hawthornes and Action RC. We wish nothing but the best for them and hope that they do continue to race.
Thank you for your continued support of RC Racing wherever you chose to
do it, just have fun and keep doing it.

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to take a brief moment to invite you to the Yukon Atheltic Foundation Board meeting this WEDNESDAY, Jan 20th at 6pm.
This is the OFFICIAL voting meeting for the board's approval for the Oklahoma Nitro Club's proposal for a grant for land to develop a new rc track in Taylor Park in Yukon, OK. There are two meetings back to back, 6pm YAF Board Meeting followed by the Yukon Parks and Recreation Board Meeting at 7pm. VOTES WILL BE HELD AT BOTH MEETINGS
Upon approval, the next and hopefully final vote will come at the Yukon City Council Meeting. I believe that date is February 4th...more details later

Update
Well Guys...I know most of you have been waiting for this announcement....
We were UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED last night in both votes!
More details will follow as they are ready... We won't be able to move any dirt or start to build until Mid-Feb or so.

We were APPROVED at the Yukon City Council meeting last night!
We have a couple of general planning meetings coming up over the next two weeks. Afterward, we should be ready to START BUILDING the First RC track ever in Taylor Park around 2-18-10!!!
We will have a club planning meeting very soon... I will send another update as soon as I confirm when our meeting room is available.
