Its definitely worth the trip.
Yea it's about an hour. I have golfed at the Lost Creek Golf Course many times and know right where the cycles shop is.

I knew about it...wife and kids were out of town so I took it as an opportunity to cycle in the morning and then drive to Somerset in the afternoon to race down there. For sure I will be getting down one of these weekends. I did send an email to Kevin and haven't heard anything back yet.

I'm from State College but used to spend half the summer in DuBois when I was growing up (in the 80s)...I actually used to work for Gary at Fischels during the summer to help offset the cost of this hobby. We used to race at a paved oval that was behind the old Jr High on what I think used to be fair grounds or something. Looking at Google maps it isn't there anymore...all sorts of stuff built in that area that wasn't there 20+ years ago.
That's cool. A few of the guys that run the shop now tell me that they sell so many RC cars and trucks there per week. Everyone asks, where can we race these? No where close all just far enough away to consume the entire day due to traveling and the expense of a day trip compared to an afternoon greatly increases. I just ran the idea by the wife what she thought about me building a track in the backyard. She said absolutely not... the neighbors would call the police. I so dislike living in the city.

The track across from thunderbird was being built by Jim. The track was called SVRC , you can do a search on rctech. The owner was a real great guy, I met with him a few times and walked the track and discussed future plans. But the owner is a busy guy 50+ hours a week at work and his kids were more into dirtbike racing so he says. So it just fell apart.
