Thanks for the kind words Shawn. But, you know it will probably be the end of July before I start getting the hang of the outdoor track again! I just don't anticipate a smooth transition from my end. The kids will be fun to watch though

Our mission at Spider Hobbies and “Rt281 Raceway” is to continue to improve and provide a quality environment for racers while maintaining a Family Friendly environment. RT281 Raceway is a facility designed and built by racers, for racers! We started the journey in 2011-12 with our off-road track and are back again for the 2013 racing season.
The goal was to combine our love for both 1/10th scale and 1/8th scale vehicles. The new track design allows both of these scale vehicles to enjoy the same track. We have addressed some key areas this year and have focused more on the facility quality instead of just going BIG and BIGGER!
The back stretch is 160 ft long so you can really hammer down with those BIG motors! And the jumps will allow for 1/10 scales to double or roll, while Truggies will be able to quadruple or even triple those jumps. We are going to focus even harder on the surface this year, making it even smoother. All lanes are 14 ft wide! So racing 1/8th scale will be completely competitive and 1/10th scale is going to be insane! Maybe even 4 wide?

We are offering the following classes:
• Sportsman
• 2wd 1/10 scale Buggy Mod & Stock (17.5 binky)
• 4wd 1/10 scale Buggy Mod
• 2wd Stock SC Truck (17.5 binky)
• 2wd Mod SC Truck
• 4wd SC Truck
• E-scale with nitro - Allowed
• E-Truggy with nitro – Allowed

Racing fees are as Follows:
$12.00 for the First Class, $8.00 for the Second Class, $25.00 Unlimited - if you dare.
All Races will be the following format and are dependent on time

2 qualifying heats with a re-sort between the rounds!
Double A Mains if time allows.
Point Series will be announced at a later date.

RT281 Raceway is located in Friedens, PA which is about sixty miles east of Pittsburgh. The track is located on six acres of land and has water, electricity and compressed air. The racing surface is hard packed clay with a 14 ft width, bounded by plastic pipe, wood and/or concrete barrier walls. We are using the RC4 AMB/My Laps counting system with the RC Scoring Pro Race Management System. We are currently awaiting the weather to settle down and allow us to start working the dirt. Stay Tuned.

Well it still has snow on it, but right now I would say we would need a very dry and warm spell to adhere to the schedule we posted. Last year we got started mid may.

I was hoping that we could get and earlier start but weather is not listening. LOL

Lets hope for some dry weather.

Make way for heavy equipment. Have good weather (i guess) coming our way (bout time)!!!! If in the area stop by.

I promise to stay out of the area with the dark clouds that seem to follow me until the track work is complete.

New year, New Jason!!! Old habits will die!!! It'll be great to see you & boys this summer. Hope all is better with work & good luck at LCRC if you're making it there this weekend? Hope to maybe make "The Big One", not sure if I can get that much time off or make just part of it??!! + Ty has to get all his 1/8 scale electronics, which aren't cheap. Take care Eric

So what's the verdict on 1/10 4wd buggy? I had to back out of the sale of the one I bought over the winter (wow is shipping to Canada expensive) so I have one still and was thinking of running 2wd and 4wd buggy rather than any SCT class this year. I saw there was a FB post a week or so to gauge interest...do we have enough?

Also is there a points series again this year? Do all races count now or are there specific dates...I still can't make it every weekend. Why can't you guys move Somerset up here closer to State College? LOL
