The beginning of the year at G's I also ran a 4wd SCT with Bryan from SMC in mod sct and we did not seem to have any problems either. Most of us are just out for the fun of it and are more into racing side by side for 4th or 5th rather than worrying about who is upfront. Kash and myself ran mod sct together last weekend at G's with another guy and it was all fine and fun. Names of the classes really does not matter to me, I think you only really need two.
All about the mod SCT and Buggy's .. Gotta run with Josh and Jason.

its not fun to show up knowing you are at huge disadvantage to start with.
It's offroad, motor is not always going to help. Slower is faster although some do not get that. Look at the stock lap times and the mod, I bet they are not that far off. In addition a good speedo with a 17.5 and timing boost can hang easily with a stock 13.5. What is your definition of being competitive? Do you expect to win every week? If fun requires being competitive, then I myself would probably rethink racing. Take someone like Regal with a stock truck and I bet he could win mod with it.

you guys all seem to think you can run this crazy timing in a 17.5 truck... we have tried and you cant do it. they get too hot.

our lap times and total laps are very similiar to a spec truck with the 17.5...
would you race your spec truck in mod class... i doubt it.

Maybe we should formulate some sort of handicap system. We'll tech everyones SCT and score them based on what motor, speedo, batteries, hop-ups, and weight. Then we can assign a certain amount of seconds handicapped to each racer so that everyone has a 100% equal chance to win the race.

no clue... i have only raced local this year as i dont have the cash to travel right now...
however the closest track to bumps with the biggest turn out of sct i have seen is running it and getting enough for a b-main. i am pretty sure most tracks in the area are barely getting enough for a b-main in one class let alone a spec turn out of around 30 and a 17.5 turn out around 15

If it's the only class to run then I would still run.

you are probably also the guy who doesnt move over for the leaders when you are laps down....

i also find it amusing you are telling me motor doesnt matter when last year the guys with 17.5's got kicked out of spec class because of our motors....

My main point is that it's a national club, not a standard. If you travel eventually you will see most of the tracks do not car about the club and are doing just fine. In addition I believe the track you are referring to really is designed around 10th scales which I believe is the other big factor in there turn out numbers. Alot of other places are concentrating on the 1/8th scales.
G's in Shippensburg last year used to have those numbers and probably one of the biggest sct classes that I had seen. The economy this year has not helped with the classes and most of the tracks I have visited are seeing lower numbers both RC and full size sprint cars. So, with lower participation numbers and splitting classes it looks even smaller at times. I would much rather be moved into a class of 6 or 7 guys and get beat rather than run around the track with just 1 or 2 guys in a class.
