The factory kits are legal in the 17.5 kit - but not the conversions.
I have the rules posted on the web site.
Not saying if this doesn't work we can't tweak it before the points season.
But it will get the season started.

Default Points series update

The calendar is up to date with all the point series dates listed
As usual there will be two throw outs.

What is different this year is that there will be be no plaques for points(they hang around all summer and a lot of times they don't get picked up) instead we will do either a gift certificate or cash, not sure yet, I guess whatever the majority wants.
The points will run like normal, however we will have a "mini chase" the last race to see who gets paid.
The idea is to run the top 8 people in points the last race day of the season, which will likely be April 3rd.
There will be two mains totaled for points. The first main will run between rounds one and two and the second main will be run prior to the regular race day mains. These points will be added to see who wins. 1st may be $200, second $100 and 3rd $50.
This will all depend on the car count for the year.
So basically you are fighting to stay in the top 8 to race for the money at the end of the year.
I will start a calendar of plaques that your name will go up on listing the actual points leader as the winner that will hang inside bumps for everyone to see.
Something new and different that should be all about Fun!!!

I was confused but now it all makes sense. It really didnt take too long or too much drama to get it figured out either. I think it was important to get this out of the way now so that everyone has a bit to get ready. I like what youve come up with and Im almost ready.

Tires? What 1 set of tires would be best for the 17.5 class to start with. Im a big fan of AKA and originally was thinking super soft Grid Irons for the rear and soft Grid Irons for the front. Then I started looking and Panther Switch 2.0s, AKA Wishbones, Proline Snipers, and JConcepts Double Dees all caught my eye figuring super soft rears and soft fronts for whatever tread.

Speaking of tread is there a minimum limit like there was for 1/8th scale?

Next question lipos. What capacity and C rating? Reedy has 5000mah 20C packs for $55 on their website but I worry about that 20C rating being too low. They also have a 3700 pack but I dont know its C rating and of course they have the big dog 5000mah 35C packs. Does it have to be hardcase?

yes there is still a minimum tread height - it will be 1/16" for short course tires.
just use a tip of a 1/16" wrench.
There is a good chance the track may be wetter this year - therefore more bite.
But I don't want to ever go back to slicks.

I agree, its more fun on treads. With slicks the cars were so glued it was more like onroad then offroad. I tried treaded tires every year but they were always 1 second a lap slower so I had to run slicks.

At 1/16 inch I think Wishbones are out so Grid Irons, Snipers, or Double Dees sound like the way to go. Im a big fan of AKA stuff so I think Grid Irons are going to be my first choice. I know I ran them on my 1/8th buggy last winter when I was up there FTW

The tread has to be > 1/16" ? Is this when new or if the tire becomes worn it's illegal?

correct - don't worry you won't wear tires - they will last all season.

You are not illegal.
You can run mod if there are enough people that have mod, if not you would be placed in the 4wd class.

Are the 4wd's showing up on a weekly basis?

Default spec motors

"This class is restricted to a stock Traxxas Titan 12T R/C motor550 12t and Reedy 17t RTR motor. All kit's must run the motor that was supplied in the kit."

The wording is a little unclear.

Is it just these 2 motors? If so can the traxxas motor be run in an SC10? Also the latest SC10 rtr trucks have a ball bearing motor instead of bushing, is that ok to run?

Hi Butch
I will change it - but basically these rules are unchanged from last year.
Spec is spec so I will remove the first sentence and just leave the last sentence. All kit's must run the motor that was supplied in the kit.

You could run Kyosho Ultima SC, but you would need to install the gear diff out of the RTR kit. Basically the spec class is intended for RTR vehicles - to give people a place to start without having to buy a race kit to be competitive.

Given the rules you would easily be competitive in the pro class with a stock Ultima SC, or any other stock truck for that mater. I would think a box stock slash in Reigle's hands would be capable of winning the 17.5 class without having to buy a 17.5 or anything else.
