Met with the Sea Bee's yesterday, they will probably get a bobcat style tractor up there in the next three weeks after going through approval. They are also going to improve the shade frame on driverstand.

The dep Camp Commander called me and they will move the ISO, empty the trash, but not take care of the weeds.

I am going to get some weed killer and spray today, does anyone have a large weed eater?

genny is out there and should run no problem, it's in the box behind the dirt pile, I just have a small electric too, will call around for a good gas one or go buy one.

:::News:::

Torii is have a fest on the 3rd, I talked to Jason Evers, he is going to contact me if we can get space and a time for a demo.

Same with Hansen's on the 17/18.

Saturday's are becoming a bit better for me as the wife is busy with summer dragon boat racing...how can I complain....?

Bottom line is we need more guys and gals if we are going to do any more races and we need to recruit and advertise.

We lost quite a few guys this PCS, so we need to let people know there is a track and get people there.

We all should be doing the fests, but we could divide up the media...

if someone wants to take:
  • papers
  • radio
  • TV

I'd like to have a bigger poster or more info at Siro and RCP too. If you have a bulletin board for posting at work or barracks or towers put up a flyer.

other info...sprayed the weeds with a few gallons of round up today and re did the timing loop, man that's a pain in the ass...

.............Jon you need to get a job during the summer as you have waaaaay toooo much time on your hands.

Talked with Anthony, he is at Iwakuni(sp) until this Saturday. He is good with anything we want to do on the weekend of the 4th.

My input is for a race on Saturday morning..........not sure who all will show up.

I have been giving some thought as to how we could have a fun and competative day at the track with a small number of drivers, here are some ideas I came up with.

Run the qualifiers more like NASCAR(I hate Nascar by the way), still run a 5min qualifier but with one one guy at a time. Rack and stack the mains by qualifying times/laps or fastest lap. Have small mains to allow for a couple of turn marshalls.

Many of the bigger RC races are running more than one main and take average finish of 2 or 3 mains to determine winner......more track time for everyone.

.........my 2 cents.

Is anyone running much on the 1/10 track? You all know I'm not a big fan of 1/10 but I do like the way the track has held up versus the 1/8 track. If we get the SeaBees to come out again we will need to take up most of the black pipe from the big track so they can work. How bout we look at adding the bigger pipe to the smaller track, flow it a little different and run everything there for a while.

......once again my 2 cents

Ken, I ran on it the other day along with another man that was there. Had a great time, i love that track. I agree that we need more people to show up for races. Some tracks in the states do a staggered start for qualifiers. That way each car has some space to get going and it takes longer to catch the other drivers. I'm down for the 3rd. Im itching to race. Do we want to do a 1/8th race or 1/10th race? My 2 cents is we do 1/8th. There have already been a few 1/10th races lately. If we all can come up with a set plan for races (dates) and get more info on the demo's i'll hit up the radio station and do some promo....yut

I think the main reason the 1/10 track is holding up better is the fact that it is on the flat part of the lot. The 1/8 track has crazy runoff where as the 1/10 does not. The flipside is that the 1/8 track is dry in a matter of hours after it rains, and the 1/10 takes a day or two. I really don't think we are ever going to fix the problem of runoff on the 1/8 track. Even if we go in and sift rocks out and pack it good, it will just wash away in the next hard rain. Since rainy season is over now, I think if we go in and rake it again and rent a couple of plate compactors we should be good for the summer.

August I will have lots of free time as my wife and kids are going to Miyako for the month, so I'm up for whatever we decide.

Sounds like a good plan........count me in.

A couple of things happen when you let someone else drive your car:

1. You find out how bad you drive

2. You find out your setup sucks.......

Hmm, I disagree with #2. Not every set up will work for all driving styles...

true Paulie, I know some guys that don't need to worry about set up at all, they just use other cars to turn and cushion the landings...

so you gonna show up and race or just talk about it?

Yeah, I'll show up, and I assure you, you will not be my cushion.

Unless you are THAT slow...
