Short of a rolling start the only safe way to simultaneously start a race from standstill is to grid the cars right into a turn.

Not the next two weekends (on road race and TAD/TDY to Iwakuni) but one of the weekends coming up after that, we (Ken, Jon, Paulie, me, and who ever) will sit down with the timing system see what works best. We will go with a majority on it depending if the software can handle it. I do know the system will allow for staggered starts and mass starts. I also remember something about NOT counting the first lap.

****ANNOUNCEMENT****
Today, I purchased the Ko Propo Timing System. It should be here in a few weeks (it has to stop in California first).

Default Grand Opening Coverage

Guys, Oscar Johnson (Stripes Okinawa) told me he has not had any of his stringers submit a story on the opening day event. Can anyone confirm that there was anybody out there writing for the paper? If not we can get something submitted for next week's edition.

All,

The OkiMar was there, AFN was there and Stripes said they were going to attend.

The story is running right now on AFN and on Wave 89.1.

i will post the link later for the AFN spot. If they (stripes would like to do a story, let me know, I am sure we can do a phone interview with a few of us...

Robert, I am a stringer for Oki Stripes. Give me your email so I can send you the draft for the story for your review.

Is there going to be a drivers stand (7 ton) there this weekend? Just curious.

Anyone going to the track tomorrow, Friday? If so what time. Thanks.

I know man, I totally planned on showing up the next day, but I was dead to the world...

I'm getting too old for this staying up all night stuff...pulled 2 all nighters in less than 2 weeks, ha ha ha.

And just did it again for my trip to Hawaii. At lease this time it had some benifit, as I'm already adjusted to Hawaii time, ha ha ha.

I went on a parts ordering frenzy before I left. Got a bunch of goodies coming, one of which is a new ESC for the Slash to let me run Lipos (it has a proper cutoff).

Anyhoo, have fun and I'll see you when you return. It's going to be a full HPI/Hotbodies assault on the 8th scale track when I get back!

I think only the stairs are going to be there.

I won't be there till Monday unless I plan an escape Saturday...

Caster Buggies are on their way, hope by Tuesday if they go through Customs OK. Then the student will build them in February and in March we'll do a student day at the track one weekend and I'll need some help...and some demo drivers....

note to self--check rear diff fluid more than once every 9 months....

Anybody willing to sign out an ISO for storage? Robert said they have some at DRMO, the small ones, and according to Camp Services it CAN be put in the Mess Hall parking lot. It would be nice to not have to leave things behind the dirt.

Running by the hardware stores today to get some longer nails for the 1/10 track. Before you run check to make sure the tubes are down, some came loose on both tracks.

Not any rain in the focast, so the track will be dry and dusty...so it can be swept or raked for better traction if you feel inclined...

Jon,

We have been able to put an ISO in the parking lot the whole time, the issue was trying to dop it in the track area,,,

this was the great debate.

I am working with Camp service to get a small 8ft Quadcon for the parking lot for storage as I got a call from environmental yesterday saying the site looked good except for the gas can,,, So I went and grabbed it and straightened up the area sn replaced the barrels.

ALL+++++++++++++

If you visit the track and it is messed up,,, straighten it up....

Take 5 minutes to replace barrels, trash etc and rake/sweep when done...

Enough said...

as for this weekend, there will not be a vehicle there for our use,

however, I went and spoke with Mr. Cho who is building the driver stand, it is moving along nicely, will be built at Hansen and transported to Courtney, once there, it will take us a few hours to bolt together...

I think you will all be pleased with the final product..

Paulie,

If you want, I will let you know where there are a few good R/C shops on Oahu,

2 are very close to Tripler, (one right at the bottom of the hill, the othe in Pearl City, both have decent prices and are very friendly)

I lived in Hawaii for 10 yrs so kinda know my way around..

I hope to see you all on Sat...

Speaking of servos, have you guys had any experience with the Chinese-branded ones? I got a couple of high speed metal-gear servos from Scanner RC and tried one out on my FK05 and that thing was quick. At half the price of Futaba, HiTech, etc they are a bargain. I just hope they last!
