Default The perfect indoor facility.

Just spit balling here gentlemen.

What amenities ,concessions and features would cause you to drive a long distance to attend an onroad race?

Size of track.
Proximity to hotels.
on site food.
Shopping.
washrooms.
Length of event.
Time on the Track.
Anything else pertinent, you get the idea.

Thanks.
D.

Default perfect track

1) large indoor facility with on road, off road and oval
2) fully stocked hobby shop
3) in the center of town so close to hotels, fast food, etc
4) out of business in 6 months....

Unfortunately, especially given today's economic climate, having any track close by is great.

i got the oppotunity because of the current economic climate , to open an indoor track above my work , the room was for rent but it is expensave and there is no new buisnesses opening , so we got the room FREE

so we opened the largest indoor track in Holland , track of 30m X 14m

large pit area and a bar with hot food , cold food and drinks , 2 of the club memebers have shops so we use this as a club shop (ring them and they bring it to the track for you )

we run a 6 race championship and we open fridays and sundays

Size - at least 100x50
Hotels - nice, not necessary (unless you're holding large regional/national events)
On site food - nope, negative ROI for owner
Shopping - yes, if you can carry what people need, if not you just have inventory that sits
Washrooms - DEFINITELY
Event length - no more then 3 days (hard to get more time off for most)
Time on track - varies with # of classes
Other - a good mic man, easy to read scoring and standings display, FLAWLESS ORGANIZATION OF THE EVENT, plenty of pit space (no 2.5 foot elbow to elbow stuff)

For me to travel to a track It would have the following

Onroad and Offroad in the same weekend.
WIFI or Network available
Internet scoring and live streaming races
lots of parking for trailers
FOOD a must
And a well stocked hobbyshop.

Access to entertainment facilities during off racing hours

Since I live in BtFk No Where that would be awesome

we used carpet tape on the edges BUT it is coming loose in a few braking areas so we are glueing it back down with spray glue BUY GOOD QUALITY !!!! then it doesnt come back up

this is our first attempt at an indoor track , great flowing design and challanging

the good tc drivers with rubber tyres can do early 15 second laps , i can manage a 16,1 !!!!!

With Races that you have attended in the past, what would you want to see more of and what was something that would make you reconsider re-attending?

THis will be going on this all next week at Bumps and Jumps RC as the Custom Works Oval Championships. We have 550 entries, full on site kitchen from NY Stip Steak to the simplest cheeseburger, have 45 plus trailers coming, streaming live video of the races and run weekly oval and offroad.

Enterainment is within 20 to 30 minutes from strip clubs, to malls, casino to many hotels. Everything is within 1/2 hour and access to all major highways.

I'm surprised by this statement -- we have allways found that we double our money at our club track just by selling basic burgers / hotdogs cooked on the grill and canned / bottled drinks. 50 bucks worth of supplies is 100 bucks at the end of race day just selling evey item for an even dollar each.
Racers are allways hungry! They start asking for burgers at practice around 9AM!!
