How to make own Backyard track?

Hi Guys,

First of all, I don't know if this is in the right section, but it is the best section I could find (I think). If not, please move it to an other section.
Well, I'm planning of making an off-road RC track in my backyard for 1:8, 1:10, 1:16 and 1:18. I already know how the track layout will be. But I have a few questions about the sand/grass etc. I live in Germany, so the ground looks like this:

But my problem is that the grass which is there is like 10 inch high! So it looks something like this:

I want a off-road track with sand only, without any grass. But how should I remove the grass? Should I first cut it so that the grass is really short and then remove it with a shovel? I really don't know what the best way is. Do you guys have any ideas? I don't want to remove grass and weed everyday, so it should be done like a professional

Thank you for any help,

Patrick
