The grand opening has been advertised to all the USO's on the island, and will be be published as a 1/4 page ad in this weeks Samurai Gate paper coming out this Friday. Next week's paper will feature a 1/3 page ad.

LOL! I know I'm slow in getting my cars sorted, but I finally figured out a new livery that doesn't take me all day to complete...

So with that said, yeah, March sounds about right...

LOL!

Quick update on the advertisements...

I personally went to the 4 main R/C shops on the island and distributed the poster...

R/C Siro - Tadashi-san will have it posted on his web blog/website, and also has it posted in the store. He's going to personally call folks to tell them about it, like Miagi-san, etc. I asked him if he could do a small vendor booth like he does for the Drift events at Nago circuit, and he's thinking about it. If he does, cool, but since he is mostly an on-road shop he may decide against it and just come out on his own.

R/C paradise - Nick-san and Kenji-san will be coming out as well, and they are telling all their customers. They said they will start stocking universal off-road items, like AKA tires, wheels, etc. When they find out what brands of chassis most folks are using, they may consider stocking up on replacement parts (so everyone run out right now and buy a Hot bodies D8, he he he).

X-Hobby - Aki-san is aware, and will tell his customers about the grand opening. He was so excited he wanted to give me a set of wheel skins as a present. I told him his present to me would be just to show up at the grand opening.

T-Slide - Asahi posted the flyer in his store, and will tell his customers about it also, as some of them actually live near Courtney. He told me he'll try and show up as well, but he has to open his store at 1200, so he may only be there in the morning.

So the main R/C shops are covered. I have a feeling if it's a nice sunny day, there will be a huge turnout. We may need to make sure we have a translator. I think Steve is coming out, so I'll ask him if he could help out in that department...

What size drip pans do we need?? I am the shop foreman at my unit's motorpool. I can "borrow" whatever we need. Also, went by the Kadena Recycle Yard and they have good drip pans/oil catches (extra large like 4 X 4 ft.) we can get and keep. I know I saw 2 of them, maybe more. I am already bringing 4 small 2ft X 4ft drip pans.

Also, still looking for grates or screens to build a sifter for the dirt - KRY has a few different types. Anyone have suggestions on this?

Paulie and his leg work...cool! uh, what are wheel skins?

nice try, but there will be AT LEAST 12 Caster Buggies (drivers wanted!) on the island by the end of this month...so they might need to start stocking Caster parts...heh heh....

Will they allow Tadashi to set up a booth?

I'm bringing stuff up tomorrow to stash behind the dirt....

Wheel skins are decals that cover the wheels, like the ones I make out of vinyl, only X-Hobby had some by Upgrade RC that had designs in them.

I'm making a custom set for the Vorza cause I want to have the lip of the rim a different color than the face of the wheel.

As for letting Tadashi setting up a booth, I don't see why not. If he does bring some stuff out and they won't let him sell anything, we can just have it there on "display". After all, this was a community building project so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Drip pans= Any size is good, but I think the bigger 4x4 ones could be left in a designated spot for refueling,

smaller ones will walk/blow away.

Vending= an info booth would be great, display table, etc...any retail sales would definately get some unwanted attention....AAFES of course would want their 20%....as well as mccs...

Heck, they even wanted 20% of girl scout cookies and boy scout pop corn..don't get me started on soda messes and car washes

I will check on the large drip pans today at lunch. I already have a truck lined up to take them to Camp Courtney.

Stopped by the track, extremely muddy and squishy. Some puddles on the 1/10 and kiddie track, nothing big.

Would be nice to pack it again before running on it, when I walked around I can feel the dirt give, but it is too wet and sticky.
